The Sylvan Difference

Sylvan isn’t one-size-fits-all. We offer three main paths: Personalized Tutoring, built around your child’s learning plan; Academic Coaching, for extra practice and homework support; and Advanced Placement and Test Prep, for students taking on AP classes, the SAT, or the ACT. Sessions run after school, evenings, and weekends.

Every tutor is trained and certified in Sylvan’s instructional methods. They understand your local curriculum and work directly with your child’s teacher, so the whole team stays aligned.

Most sessions happen in small groups, but every student gets focused one-on-one attention each visit, plus time to practice independently. That mix is part of what makes the Sylvan Method effective.

Many centers have Spanish-speaking staff and tutors. Availability varies by location, so check with your local center directly.

Sylvan doesn’t follow one specialized intervention program, but many centers support students with mild to moderate learning differences, including dyslexia. Reach out to your local center to talk through your child’s needs.

Our core programs are for grades K through 12, though many centers also work with college students depending on subject and availability. We also offer GRE prep for students pursuing a graduate degree.

Yes. With your permission, our tutors stay in regular contact with your child’s classroom teacher, so progress at Sylvan shows up in the classroom too.
