Our tutors and staff in Lynnwood and Shoreline consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Lynnwood and Shoreline know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Candice Taylor
Center Director
Candice is a certified teacher who earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Washington University. Candice has been the Center Director at the Lynnwood Sylvan since 2007. As a parent of four children and a grandparent to two grandchildren, she empathizes with the challenges that busy parents face while supporting their children to reach their full academic potential. Candice is passionate about assisting children in building their confidence and developing a joy of learning that will last them a lifetime. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking, and reading.
Crystalyn Johnson
Director of Education
Crystalyn has been working at Sylvan since 2014. She started as a Teacher at the Lynnwood location and was a Center Director for the Oak Harbor and Sammamish locations. In 2020, Crystalyn was one of 12 Center Directors to be nominated for Center Director of the Year and was a member of the 2021 CEO Advisory Council. Currently, Crystalyn is the Director of Education and oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors. She earned her Masters degree in Teaching at the secondary level with an endorsement in English Language Arts from Western Washington University. When Crystalyn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family.
Jasmine Pel
Teacher
Jasmine is an Intensive Learning Support Paraeducator in the Edmonds School District. She studied Psychology and ECO (Education, Communities, and Organizations) at the University of Washington. Jasmine is committed to supporting students throughout their learning journey. When Jasmine isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her baking, singing karaoke, or at the gym.
Sherry Walters
Teacher
Sherry is a teacher in Lynnwood, WA, who enjoys working with kids. While Sherry has many tutoring talents, she loves teaching reading. She studied at Barnard College in New York City, the U. of Washington (Latin American Studies & Textile Sciences) and she got her Masters degree in Teaching from Heritage College in Toppenish, WA. When Sherry isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys photography, gardening, reading, walking at a local beach or park, or sightseeing around King, Snohomish, Skagit or Island Counties, Hood Canal, or Eastern Washington.
Corina Welcker
Teacher
With her Bachelor’s degree in English and a teaching certificate, Corina has worked with students since 2016. She taught high school English for three years and is currently with the Edmonds School District. She has enjoyed working with students at Sylvan since 2020, especially in Math and English. When she is not at Sylvan, she loves experiencing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and exploring creative pursuits.
