Meet Our Team

As Executive Director and Owner, JoAnn leads the educational integrity at Sylvan of Las Vegas, Southwest.  A 19 year veteran teacher, and a 10 year part-time Sylvan teacher, JoAnn chose to leave the classroom to open her own Sylvan Learning Center. She loves how the Sylvan Learning programs help students grow to their full potential. When JoAnn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband, Terry Lynn, friends,  crafting, reading and traveling.

Todd oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Las Vegas. A former Software Engineer in Indianapolis, Todd brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Southwest Las Vegas. When Todd isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him on the golf course, spending time with his family, or watching motocross racing.

Ms. Mia

Tutor

Ms. Mia has worked in elementary education for over 20 years in Massachusetts, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.  She loves teaching children to read! She loves children’s natural curiosity, and how confident they become when they achieve their goals.  When Ms. Mia isn’t at Sylvan, she loves exploring nature, listening, and dancing to music.

Ms. Thomas

Tutor

Ms. Thomas is a first grade teacher in North Las Vegas, NV with a gift for working with kids. While Ms. Thomas has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in elementary tutoring. She studied at Illinois State University. When Ms. Thomas isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading or hanging out with family and friends.

Ms. Jennifer

Tutor

Ms. Jennifer is Sylvan teacher with a knack for working with students! She graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Math.  She has recently started taking classes at UNLV to get her MBA.  When Ms. Jennifer is not a SYlvan, she enjoys spending time with her son.  She also enjoys sports, the gym, movies and the outdoors.
