Meet the Stafford team

As a military spouse and elementary school teacher with Stafford County Public Schools, I am passionate about helping students at every level—from those who are excelling and seeking new challenges to those who benefit from additional support. As a mother of two, I understand that every child learns differently and deserves individualized encouragement and instruction. Whether a student needs targeted remediation, or help building confidence, I am committed to creating a supportive learning environment where they can reach their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning. Kim was an ESL teacher and a reading specialist for several years, before finding her love of tutoring again. She loves working with students and helping them understand their work. She graduated from Longwood University with a BS/MS and an ESL certificate from University of Mary Washington. When she is not tutoring, she loves spending time outside and with family.

I have always had a passion for teaching and believe that every student has the ability to succeed. I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Washington and began my teaching career in 2017. Since then, I have worked primarily with students in grades K–5, helping them build strong academic foundations while fostering confidence and a love of learning. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and volunteering with local nonprofit organizations.

Originally from New York, I used my passion for sports as a pathway to attend college, where I studied education. I am currently a Special Education Teacher, working with students with diverse learning needs. I am passionate about teaching because I enjoy helping students build confidence while developing and strengthening their academic skills. I find it rewarding to see students grow, overcome challenges, and recognize their own abilities. In my free time, I enjoy writing, working out, reading, and cooking.

I work as a teacher with Spotsylvania County Public Schools. I enjoy strategy games, mountain biking, and staying active. Outside of the classroom, I also serve as a coach for my school’s wrestling team, which allows me to continue working with and supporting students in a different setting.

Hi! My name is Luis, and I am currently a senior at the University of Mary Washington, where I am studying mathematics. I enjoy working with students and sharing my passion for math in a way that makes learning engaging and approachable. A fun fact about me is that I have both played and coached soccer. I enjoy being part of a team and helping others grow, both on and off the field. Ms. Yani has been an elementary school paraprofessional for many years and has taught English at middle and high school level too. While having many talents, her favorite subjects are Reading and Writing. She studied at University of Puerto Rico. When Ms. Yani isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys spending time with her family and pet bunnies.

I am a Marine wife from San Diego, California, with a passion for helping students build confidence as they take on the challenge of learning new things. I began tutoring math throughout college before attending law school in Irvine, California. Today, I am a licensed attorney who enjoys using my problem-solving, communication, and teaching skills to help students succeed academically. I believe that with patience, encouragement, and the right approach, every student can develop the confidence and skills needed to achieve their goals.
