Our daughter struggled with decoding and comprehension. This was not identified until 2nd grade and her math scores started rapidly falling. Lo and behold word problems were introduced and we found out that our daughter couldn’t read or decipher! After evaluations both in school and by outpatient speech therapy we landed on in-school small reading groups and limited ST sessions (this started at the end of 2nd grade and all of 3rd and 4th). This place has been life changing for my daughter. She was struggling with math and reading. Mrs. Katie has helped her build confidence and taught her skills that will help her in school years to come. The tutors are amazing, they really help guide your child and make learning fun.

Sylvan has exceeded our expectations. When my daughter first started tutoring she was nervous and wasn’t excited. We chose Sylvan because my sister used to go 20 years ago! My daughter needed help with 2nd grade reading and my son needed help with 7th grade math. The results for both of them has been MORE than we expected. My daughter absolutely loves it and asks to go for longer sessions. Kim and Katie run a great center. Communication is spot on, the entire staff is supportive and the scheduling is flexible for our busy family of 5. Our family had a wonderful experience at Sylvan Learning Center. Although our time there was relatively short, I saw noticeable improvements in both of my children’s reading skills and vocabulary. This place is amazing!! My granddaughter loves this place. She has come so far in the subjects she was struggling in. The staff is Awesome! It was the best decision I made for my granddaughter. Sylvan is the BEST!!

My daughter started attending sylvan because she was failing reading and math. She is in 3rd grade and just struggled so much this year. After she started at sylvan it took no time for us to see her confidence build and focus grow stronger for the topics she was once struggling with. She ended up passing both her reading and math SOLs in school!!!! We couldn’t be more pleased with the growth she has made thanks to sylvan! My daughter has only been attending Sylvan (Chesapeake) location for a month, and she has gained so much confidence in her Reading and Math. I only have (1) child in the 5th grade, so I wanted her to get this boost of academic confidence before entering Middle School next year. Yes, the costs is a little pricey but they do have options to assist with that so please do not like finances be a reason your child(ren) fall behind. The entire staff and teachers here are incredible. My child was falling behind in school and they were able to turn her results around within weeks. They not only help your child stay current with their school curriculum but also foster a love for learning and academics from a young age. 10/10.
