Heesu Choi

Director of Education

Heesu Choi is the Director of Education and Assistant Director at Sylvan Learning Coppell & Irving, where she combines her background in computer science and data analytics with a passion for student learning and academic growth. With experience in instructional leadership, administrative operations, and educational technology, Heesu ensures each student receives a personalized, high-quality learning experience.

Currently pursuing a Master’s in Data Science and Applied Statistics at Southern Methodist University, Heesu brings a data-driven approach to educational planning and program development. Her skill set spans academic assessment, curriculum alignment, staff training, and parent engagement, making her a dynamic leader in both learning outcomes and center operations.
Heesu’s diverse experience, ranging from Excel instruction at the university level to individualized support for students with special needs, fuels her mission to empower every learner to achieve their fullest potential.

Janice Harmon

Certified Tutor

Janice Harmon is a seasoned educator with over 30 years of experience in middle school instruction, having retired from Mansfield ISD after a distinguished teaching career. For the past 8 years, she has continued her passion for education by serving as a dedicated tutor at Sylvan Learning Coppell & Irving.

Janice brings deep subject knowledge, classroom insight, and a nurturing teaching style that resonates with students of all levels. Her expertise and calm demeanor help build students’ confidence and foster lasting academic success. Whether guiding students through reading comprehension, math concepts, or test prep strategies, Janice is committed to helping every child reach their full potential.

Rachel Moreira

Certified Tutor

Rachel is an experienced math and physics tutor. With over 5 years of teaching, she brings knowledge and professionalism to her students. She has a BS in Mathematics and is almost done with an MS Applied Physics from Johns Hopkins University.
The primary motivation for Rachel is to see her students succeed and know that when they put in the hard work, with the proper guidance, they can achieve all their academic goals.

Terrol McElroy

Certified Tutor

Terrol is an instructor for Sylvan of Coppell/Irving. He has a total of 13 years of teaching experience in the K-12 public school system. Terrol has been enjoying serving Sylvan families for three years. He has a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a minor in history, a Masters in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Educational Leadership. He is certified through the Texas Education Agency for EC-6 and English as a Second Language. Terrol’s specialties are literacy, dyslexia, and special education. When not educating students, Terrol enjoys spending time with family, taking vacations, and reading all types of books!

Saqif

Certified Tutor

Saqif is a dedicated instructor at Sylvan Learning Coppell & Irving, where he teaches Math, Reading, and Writing. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Texas at Dallas and brings a unique international perspective to the classroom. From 2022 to 2025, he taught English as a Second Language to senior high school students in Japan, gaining valuable experience in cross-cultural education.
Saqif is passionate about helping students build confidence and master academic skills. Outside of Sylvan, he enjoys playing basketball, reading, and continuing his study of the Japanese language.

Lauren is a tutor at Sylvan Learning. She holds a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6 with a specialty in ESL. She also holds her certification in EC-6 Generalist with ESL. She teaches Math and Reading at Sylvan. When not at Sylvan, Lauren likes swimming and spending time with her family.

Linda is a reading, math, and writing tutor at Sylvan Learning of Coppell & Irving where she enjoys helping students realize their potential. Linda has over 20 years of teaching experience.  She currently teaches English/Language Arts at Coppell High School.  She earned a B.S. in Education specializing in Elementary Education and Special Education from University of Texas in Austin, TX.  When Linda isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, volunteering in church youth activities, and walking her dachshund .

Blessy is a tutor at Sylvan of Coppell & Irving. She holds an MSc in Physics and a Master’s in Education. At Sylvan, Blessy teaches Elementary and Middle School Mathematics. When not at Sylvan, she enjoys reading and gardening.

Wilonda is a tutor at Sylvan of Coppell & Irving. Wilonda holds a BSIS from Stephen F Austin State University and holds certifications in Reading 1-8, Art EC-12, and Self-Contained 1-8. At Sylvan, Wilonda teaches Reading and Writing. When not at Sylvan, she enjoys reading, art, and sewing.
