As Director of Education here at Sylvan, Susan guides instructors to help students find the best way for students to unlock the abilities within themselves one step at a time here at Sylvan of Clarksville. As veteran teacher of 22 years, Susan, chose a career in the tutoring business because she enjoys seeing students find the spark and joy of learning. Susan studied at Austin Peay State University. When Susan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find at home reading, scrapbooking, or spending time with family .
Janet Crocker
Center Director
Director
As Center Director, Janet Crocker leads her center in Clarksville. She started when the Clarksville location opened in 1987. Janet chose a career in the tutoring business because she came from a long line of educators and enjoys seeing children grow and become confident. She studied at Austin Peay State University. When Janet isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her taking care for her horse farm and gardening.
Amanda McDaniel
Tutor
Amanda is an Instructor in Clarksville TN with a gift for working with kids. While Amanda has many tutoring talents, She finds the greatest joy in Reading and Math tutoring. She studied at Welch College. When Amanda isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her using her positive personality being creative and hanging out with family and friends
Tammy Smith
Tutor
Tammy is an Instructor in Clarksville, Tn. Tammy enjoys working with kids. While Tammy has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Reading tutoring and working with kids that have learning challenges.. She studied studied at Austin Peay State University. When Tammy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her cooking and baking amazing things. She also has a very creative side and enjoys doing many types of crafts
Jennifer Parrish
Tutor
Jennifer is a stay at home mom with 24 years teaching experience. She became an educator because she enjoys helping others learn. She has endorsements in Reading, English, and Special Education. Her favorite part of being an educator is being able to help children. When she is not at Sylvan work with kids, you can find her reading, gardening, traveling, cooking/baking, or a thrift stores.
Larturo McMahan

Larturo has experience in education from the Air Force and civilian experience for over 15 years. He enjoys working with middle and high school students especially because he enjoys connecting with them and witnessing their “light-bulb” moments of learning. He enjoys work with students to help them become a better version of themselves and achieve the accomplishments they set for themselves. When he is not tutoring you can find him listening to music, being a plant dad, traveling, and spending time with his family.
