Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Toledo know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Pandora Rose
Administration
Pandora is our Administrator who is available to help in many capacities. Born and educated in the U.K. she was a Police Officer for 10 yrs before changing careers and becoming an Administrator with the National Health Service working in Children and Family Services. Pandora has worked for Sylvan since 2016 and before coming to Sylvan of Toledo she worked for Sylvan in Dallas, TX. When Pandora isn’t at Sylvan, you will find her traveling or gardening and spending time with her husband, and 4 cats.
Denise Jordan
Tutor
Denise is a tutor in our Holland location. She has tutored for the Sylvan Learning Center of Toledo since 2012, making her the longest serving tutor in our Holland center! Denise has a BS, MA & MS all education based degrees. She tutors our ACT/SAT Test Prep Program, Advanced Study Skills and Advanced Reading Skills Program. When not at Sylvan you will find Denise sitting poolside reading or enjoying spending time with her two granddaughters.
Cherie Hunter
Tutor
Cherie tutors in our Holland location. She graduated from Cleveland State University with a BSc in Education and a M.Ed in Urban Education. She has taught grades 3-6 during her time with the Orchard Magnet school of Science. Cherie now enthusiastically teaches our STEM Program. During her time away from Sylvan she enjoys swimming, gardening and playing lots of golf!
Jamie Cremean
Tutor
Jamie is a tutor in our Holland OH center. She graduated from University of Toledo with a Masters of Education, Mild to Moderate Special Education and holds a Professional Intervention Specialist (K-12) License. Jamie enjoys tutoring the children that need a little extra support to learn. When not at Sylvan you will find her keeping busy with her 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and her cat.
Joyce Pomerville
Tutor
Joyce is a tutor in the Toledo OH area. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a BS in Elementary Education and went on to get a MA in Special Education from Eastern Michigan. She enjoys working with children of all ages and when not tutoring she loves spending time with her family her friends and her dogs!
Cindy Strickland
Tutor
Cindy is a tutor in our Franklin Park location. Cindy has a Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Education from BGSU and has a Master of Science & Education from University of Toledo. Cindy has taught all levels of Math including Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus & Calculus and has worked at Monroe High School in MI for 34 years. She enjoys co-teaching Juniors & Seniors in finishing up their math requirements and enjoys helping students to realize they ‘can’ understand math when it’s broken down into small enough chunks to process. During her spare time Cindy enjoys spending time with her husband Jim and their 3 children.
Jamal Jarrett
Tutor
Jamal is a tutor in our Holland location. He has been a Toledo Public Schools Math teacher for 14 years. He can teach Pre Algebra, Algebra, Geometry & Algebra II. During his spare time Jamal coaches basketball and football. He enjoys spending time with his wife Jaimee and his 2 cats Kingston & Simba! He can also be found enjoying Italian food at Olive Garden.
