Meet the Rochester & Pittsford team

Kristin has been with Sylvan since 2000 and currently serves as our Lead Director. With a passion for teaching and a genuine love for helping children learn and grow, she finds great joy in serving the children and youth of her church. Now that her own children are grown, she also treasures spending time with her great-nieces and great-nephews. For Kristin, one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is helping students build confidence, recognize their own worth, and discover what they are capable of achieving. She especially loves seeing a student’s face light up when something finally clicks or they discover something new. Those moments are what make her work so meaningful.

Tammy graduated from Penfield High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Nazareth College with a quad certification in 1st-9th grade education. She has worked for Sylvan since 2005, even moving to California for a time and working at Sylvan out there! She loves witnessing students of all ages grow in their love of learning. Watching their confidence improve, finding the "spark" that interests them, and their independence as a student flourish are the best parts of Sylvan. She lives in Fairport with her husband, 2 kids, and dog. Her daughter is a swimmer and son is a football player. She is an avid sports fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and NY Yankees! She also enjoys reading, biking, and doing crafts.

Scott S. is the Director and Co-Owner of the Sylvan Learning Centers in Rochester and Pittsford, New York. He oversees the daily operations of maintaining each center as well as manages the marketing and account information. A graduate from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing, Scott brings strong communication skills and a business background to the center management. When Scott isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him hanging out with his family and four children supporting them in crew, hockey and ballet.

Susan is the Director and Co-Owner of the Sylvan Learning Centers in Rochester and Pittsford, New York. She enjoys meeting with families and working together to help each family meet their goals for growth and success. A graduate from Hobart, William Smith College, along with the William E. Simon School at the University of Rochester, Susan worked together with Carol to expand the center locations. She brings a diverse education and background along with her passion for Sylvan to families locally and nationally through her role as the President of the National Franchise Owners Association Board. When Susan isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family and friends.
