Director of Operations

As the Director of Sylvan Learning, I manage the overall center operations needed to achieve performance goals and grow the centers. I am here to ensure quality educational experiences for students. I serve as the principal point of contact for the franchisee. My overall goal is to deliver a high-quality, personalized customer experience by ensuring that Sylvan education programs are delivered by teachers as designed and that the ongoing educational needs of Sylvan families are met. Working with Sylvan has allowed me to develop a passion for preparing students for success both in and outside the classroom.

As Program Manager at Sylvan Learning Center, Shen has been committed to delivering high-quality, personalized education. Janet Colon

Teacher

Janet teaches grades K-5 with a passion for helping young learners build strong academic foundations. With a patient, encouraging approach, Janet specializes in guiding students through essential subjects like reading, writing, and math, while also nurturing their confidence and love for learning. Janet believes that every child has the potential to succeed when given the right support, and takes pride in creating a positive, engaging environment where students feel empowered to grow

Halimeda Glickman-Hoch

Halimeda graduated cum laude from Harvard in 2012 with a concentration in mathematics, a secondary concentration in physics, and a teaching cert. Halimeda is a dedicated, versatile teacher and tutor with a great love of math and a wealth of experience. She builds strong rapport with her students and helps them build their confidence, while individualizing her instruction practices to meet their needs. She draws on her 8 years as a classroom teacher at schools such as Newton South High School and Hunter College High School. Halimeda specialize in Math (Grades K-12, SAT, SHSAT, ACT, PSAT and GED) Reading and Science (Grades K-6, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, Physics)

Amirah Khan

Teacher

Amirah Khan, a Baruch College alumna with a Bachelor’s degree in English. I’ve been with Sylvan Learning Center for many years, where she had the honor to tutor students from Kindergarten through 8th grade, as well as High School English. Her focus has been on strengthening students’ reading and writing skills as well as improving their overall academic confidence. Amirah passion has been on helping students explore their interest in creative hobbies that allows them to thrive inside and outside the classroom.

Fani Clarke

Teacher

Fani has been teaching and tutoring since 2010, and received her MAT in 2013. Fani is an experienced educator who teaches students up to 12th grade, with a strong specialization in upper-level mathematics. While she is well-versed in teaching all subjects across grade levels, she is especially passionate about is Math, Earth Science, Physics, and Writing. She is also fond of SAT and SHSAT prep. Fani fosters academic excellence and critical thinking, providing students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed both in and beyond the classroom

Aleksandr Nevorov

Aleksandr is a dedicated Sylvan Learning teacher of many years with a genuine passion for education and a heartfelt commitment to student success. With a background in education, he brings knowledge for reading and writing to every session, creating a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to grow. What Aleksandr finds most rewarding about teaching is helping students overcome academic challenges and master their reading and writing skills. Whether working on foundational skills or advancing subject mastery, he believes in meeting each student where they are and guiding them toward a successful future.
