Sherlly G.

Assistant Director

Sherlly oversees the educational integrity of our programs, while managing and training our team of tutors in Fair Lawn. She graduated from Montclair State University with a Business Administration Degree and a concentration in Management. Sherlly brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan and enjoys seeing students succeed in all aspects.

John S.

Tutor

John is a math, SAT, and ACT tutor with a gift for both lower and higher-level mathematics. While John has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in helping students and showing them different approaches to solving problems. John studied at Stevens Institute of Technology for his Bachelor of Science and at Fairleigh Dickinson for his Master’s in Mathematics.  When John is not at Sylvan, he is an adjunct math professor at Felician University in Lodi and Rutherford.

Hamdi K.

TUTOR

Hamdi is a specialized Math enthusiast. While he can tutor in SAT Math and almost any upper level math course, Hamdi finds the greatest joy in Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. He studied at New Jersey Institute of Technology. When Hamdi isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him either at the gym or at home reading his favorite books. Hamdi’s favorite restaurant is The Cheesecake Factory because he loves Cheesecake!

Mary D.

TUTOR

Mary is a specialized Reading tutor for grades K-12th as well as SAT preparation. While Mary has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching her students the hiddem gems of Reading/Writing. Mary studied at Felician University where she graduated with her Teaching Degree. When Mary isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her crafting and painting for fun! Mary’s favorite quick stop is Dunkin Donuts because she loves her coffee!

Ian L.

TUTOR

Ian is a combination tutor who can assist K-8th grade students in all areas! While Ian has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in teaching 8th grade Science in his classroom. Ian studied at William Paterson University where he received his teaching degree. When Ian isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing sports or eating loaded nachos at his favorite restaurant, Chilis!

Deejay G.

TUTOR

Deejay is a combination tutor who can assist students K-12th grade in Math, Reading and SAT prep. While Deejay has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in helping students truly understand how to apply their mathematical skills in order to succeed in school! Deejay studied at NJIT where he received his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering Technology. When Deejay isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing the bass guitar as his favorite hobby! Deejay’s favorite restaurant is Tops Diner because he loves their steak.

Gregory M.

TUTOR

Gregory is a specialized math enthusiast who can assist in all kinds of math including SAT as well as Physics. While Gregory has many tutoring talents, he does find the greatest joy in breaking down mathematical equations and helping students better understand how to apply formulas. Gregory studied at Ramapo College where he recieved his Bachelors in mathematics and a minor in physics. When Gregory isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him running marathons in the Clifton Road Runners Club. Gregory’s favorite restaurant is Maywood Pancake House because he loves all of their breakfast items!

Michael D.

TUTOR

Michael is a combination tutor who can assist students in Math, Reading, and SAT prep! While Michael can assist students in all areas, he finds the greatest joy in helping students grow to love science. Michael studied at The College of New Jersey where he earned his degree in Health and Excercise Science. When Michael isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him focusing on his health at the gym! Michael’s favorite restaurant is Jersey Mikes because he loves their variety of sandwiches.
