Mike Borcherding

Owner

As the owner of Sylvan Learning and Class 101, Mike is dedicated to empowering students and helping them achieve their greatest potential. With a passion for education and a deep commitment to student success, he strives to provide families with the tools, guidance, and support needed to navigate academic challenges and prepare for a bright future. Whether through personalized tutoring, test prep, or college planning, Mike’s goal is to make a lasting impact on students’ lives, equipping them with the confidence and skills they need to excel.
His wife, who is from Omaha, and him are proud parents of two boys. As a family, they value education, community, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students and their families.

Ashley Meyer

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Ashley plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of all our Nebraska Centers and fostering strong community relationships. With a background as a preschool teacher and youth behavioral specialist, Ashley transitioned to the tutoring field because of her passion for helping students reach their full academic (and personal) potential. Outside of Sylvan, she enjoys crocheting, exploring farmer’s markets, and relaxing with her two cats. Ashley is a proud graduate of Doane University, where she also played collegiate softball.

Emily Robinson

Education Lead/Teacher

Emily serves as our Education lead, with a particular passion for supporting early readers by tailoring approaches to meet each child’s unique needs. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with High Distinction in Education. Known for her warm and caring demeanor, Emily greets everyone with kindness. Her dedication and love for her work are evident in the remarkable progress our students make under her guidance.

Shelley Andelt

Teacher

Shelley is one of most well known teachers in the building. She has a bachelors in Elementary Education and Special Education. When you are in the center you can feel the love she has for each and every student that comes through our doors. She loves teaching our younger students about phonics and really wants to help them learn as much as possible to set them each up for success. When she is not at Sylvan she can be seen with her sweet puppy Winter and spending time with the people she loves most.

Jeff Brandle

Teacher

Jeff is a Tutor in Lincoln, NE with a gift for working with kids. While Jeff has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in Trigonometry tutoring. Jeff specializes in upper level Math tutoring including the following classes: Algebra I, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Trigonometry. He studied at Trinity University and University of Nebraska – Lincoln. When Jeff isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him spending time with his daughter Mia.  .

Jason Frazier

Teacher

Jason graduated with an Associates degree from SCC Milford for Automotive Technology, then decided to go back to school for a Bachelors in Organizational Communication and Leadership from Nebraska Wesleyan. Jason goal for his time at Sylvan is to help children feel comfortable about where they are at in education and help learn skills to overcome educational struggles. As he has a lot of the same. When he is not at Sylvan he enjoys spending time with his gods and running the Alien haunt at Eagle Hollow.

Jennifer Curtis

Teacher

With a focus on elementary students, Jenn brings energy and enthusiasm to every lesson. Next year, she’ll be taking her talents to Lincoln Public Schools as a 5th-grade teacher. Jenn’s vibrant personality shines through in the achievements of her students, making learning both effective and enjoyable.
