Michelle Varoutsos

Executive Director and Franchise Owner

Michelle is the Executive Director and Center Owner. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in Elementary Education and Psychology, University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction, High Point University in AIG education, and UNC Greensboro in Educational Administration. Michelle has taught in Connecticut and North Carolina and was an administrator in Thomasville and Concord. She is passionate about education and helping students develop a love for learning, increase their confidence, and achieve success. Michelle is responsible for meeting Sylvan's high operating standards and ensuring that our families enjoy the many benefits that Sylvan has to offer. When Michelle isn't at Sylvan, you'll find her reading and spending time with her family, which includes her husband, 2 adult children, 2 fur babies, and 4 feathered friends.

Our Teachers

Ellen HalkaEducation Director

Ellen has been with Sylvan Learning of Lexington, NC since 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Concordia College in NY. Ellen also holds a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology and STEM Certification in grades PreK-8th. She enjoys working at Sylvan because of the growth she sees in her students and their academic success. Ellen is responsible for monthly meetings with the parents, working with the students' educational plans, and overseeing the roles of the other tutors. When Ellen is not at Sylvan, she enjoys traveling, being at the beach, and spending time with her two daughters, Victoria and Ashley, and dog Tokyo.
