Meet the Chapel Hill team

As Director, Rhianna leads our team of tutors in Chapel Hill. Prior to Sylvan, Rhianna spent 8 years in the classroom as a second-grade teacher and team leader. She decided on a career at Sylvan to help more students reach their goals and be successful. She believes every child can shine in their own way and time! Rhianna holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology from East Carolina University. When she's not at Sylvan, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her dogs!

As Regional Director, Martin oversees our centers in Cary, Chatham County, Durham, High Point, Holly Springs & Fayetteville. A former district manager for High Touch High Tech, Martin chose a career at Sylvan for the opportunity to help kids & their families realize that they can achieve their educational goals. He believes our Sylvan team truly is a "family" with each of us working to make a difference in the lives of the students we work with and to see the joy on their faces when they achieve something they may not have thought possible. When he's not at Sylvan, Martin enjoys exercising, going to the gym, participating in fun activities with his 2 girls, and cooking!

Cindy has been an integral part of our Sylvan team since 2004. As our Admissions Director, Cindy introduces parents to Sylvan, and we don't know what we would do without her! When Cindy isn't at Sylvan, she is training her dog, spending time with her family and friends, and looking forward to trips to the beach.

After retiring in June of 2024 with thirty years of teaching experience and moving from Maryland to North Carolina in the fall, Christy is grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with students at Sylvan. Teaching children continues to be her passion. She enjoys working with students to help them build confidence, persevere through challenges, feel success, and develop positive feelings about learning. Hopefully they have a little fun while doing so, too! In her spare time, you can find her walking her dog and cat (yes, she walks the cat:), hitting the local farmer’s market circuit, or going to (or watching) different sports events. However, her most favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband, two sons, and daughter.

Patricia is a Special Education teacher for Durham Public Schools. Education is her passion, and she enjoys helping others learn. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.

William is currently a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics. He loves all things science. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing and playing board games with his friends.

Chris is excited to serve as a Learning Coach for Sylvan Chapel Hill! He is a North Carolina native who studied both English and Comparative Literature and Political Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. After completing undergraduate studies, Chris pursed a graduate degree with UNC’s School of Education and recently earned his Masters in Teaching. Education has always been something that Chris is passionate about, and he's eager to share that passion with students, helping them to see for themselves what education is, and what its impact can be! Outside of academia, he is a comic book enthusiast, and an avid movie watcher.
