Ann has been part of the Sylvan family since 2019, when she first joined as a Teacher’s Assistant. After earning her degree in History and Social Science Education from Illinois State University, she returned to Sylvan in 2025 as both a Teacher and Assistant Director at our Schaumburg center. Through her clinical experiences and student teaching at Larkin High School in Elgin, IL—where she taught economics and sociology—Ann developed a passion for supporting students of all ages and backgrounds. At Sylvan, Ann loves getting to know each student and helping them build confidence in their learning. She believes every student deserves the right resources and support to succeed. Outside of Sylvan, Ann enjoys going to the movies, seeing live musicals, and making jewelry. A fun fact about her—she was part of an improv group in college called Playback Theatre!

Robert H
Director of EducationRobert has been passionate about education since 2018. Before joining Sylvan, he worked as a substitute teacher, supporting students from Pre-K through high school. Since 2020, he’s been part of the Sylvan Lake Zurich team and now serves as our Director of Education. In this role, Robert works closely with students, families, and teachers to ensure every child receives a personalized learning experience and the highest quality education.
Robert believes that learning is a lifelong journey and strives to inspire that same love of learning in every student he meets. Outside of Sylvan, he enjoys bringing history to life through historical reenactments with friends, participating in large events across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
Our Teachers
Jen has been passionate about education for more than 20 years. She has taught a variety of grade levels, including fourth and sixth grade, and currently teaches reading to first graders. Since joining Sylvan of Schaumburg in 2006, Jen has loved helping students grow in confidence and discover the joy of learning. Her greatest passion is teaching and sharing her love of reading with her students. Jen’s goal is to make learning fun and engaging for every child she works with. Outside of Sylvan, she enjoys spending time with her pets, cooking, and singing.
