Sylvan has been very thorough in their evaluation of our kiddo's needs scholastically. They’ve been very helpful in identifying and creating a plan and being flexible with scheduling as extra-curricular activities come up for our kid. They’ve also been excellent at keeping in good communication with us and letting us know how things are going and what more needs to be addressed. Would recommend to anyone whose kid could use some extra support in school.

I have been extremely impressed with Sylvan of Ames beginning with my first interaction. Looking to help improve our middle-school daughter's study skills, I was pleased with the offerings Sylvan had, but even more so the intentionality put into selecting the courses and putting them in order that would best align with her specific needs. My daughter was NOT excited to have us enroll her in the programming, but her attitude was changed even taking the assessment BEFORE the actual course work started. She loves earning tokens and getting rewards, but she also talks about her teachers a lot and…

Wonderful place. We used Sylvan for last minute ACT prep for child summer end of junior year. Two weeks intensive help 2-3 hrs/day and studying 1-2 hrs at home after. Child increased score by 5 points. Brought 2 other children in for reading comp testing and will be establishing a plan.

The staff are all very friendly and they did an excellent job of helping us understand the assessment that helped us figure out the best learning path. Theo is the second time we are sending one of our kids to Sylvan and we highly recommend the West Ames location.

Great team that’s making a big difference in my young person’s reading skills and confidence! They are empowering him to learn on his own and kindling his passion for education!

My daughter is very behind in reading and we started in June and she has made huge gains. She enjoys going more than going to school. She is doing so well that we added in Math! They have been more than accommodating for us. She has showed so much more confidence and actually picks up books and reads them.

Just starting out with Sylvan, they are kind, clear and take all the time you need to explain and share how their programs work. I’m grateful to have this service available for my children and the community.

My sister has been going to Sylvan of Ames for about a month now. I’ve watched her go from hating school and fighting my parents to do her school work to being a pretty happy kid and reading in her spare time. I’m even interested in the ACT study program and hoping to use Sylvan in the future myself!
