Meet the Ocala team

Lonell has taught at Sylvan since 2020 and uses his vast knowledge of mathematics to help students achieve their goals. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from South Carolina State University in 1983. He also earned his Masters of Education Degree with a concentration in Mathematics from South Carolina State University in 1987. He also Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College to obtain an Associate Degree in Business with a concentration in Computer Technology in 1990. He enjoys enhancing his students’ understanding of mathematics and likes to see the students understand a topic/problem that gave them trouble in the past. When Mr. Lonell is not teaching he can be found watching sports or listening to various kinds of music.

Sheri enjoys the individualized instruction that enables the students to make progress in their educational goals. She earned her degree at Eastern Kentucky University in Communication Disorders. She has worked in education for 25 years and currently teaches high school math at First Assembly Christian School, as well as here at Sylvan. Her areas of expertise are math and SAT/ACT prep. When not working with students, Mrs. Sheri enjoys scrapbooking and is an avid genealogist. The two most important things to know about Mrs. Sheri is, that she is a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loves spending time with her 3 grandboys!

Sean uses his knowledge in secondary math to help students reach their goals in their educational journey. He received his degree from the College of Central Florida in 2024. His most enjoyable moment is hearing a student say “AH HA” when they finally understand a skill that they have been struggling with. When you can’t find Mr. Sean at Sylvan, he may be reading fantasy books, painting minis, or mountain biking.

Chelsea is responsible for ensuring that Sylvan education programs are delivered by teachers as designed, so that lessons are effective and robust. She graduated from the University of Florida with a master’s in elementary education and has worked in various education roles for 14 years. Her passion is to meet students where they are, give them the tools and confidence they need, and witness their growth in leaps and bounds!

Brittany works with staff and parents to create an individualized program for each student to achieve the highest levels of growth in academics and confidence. Brittany graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Leo University in 2007. She has experience teaching in the classroom and in educational management. In her spare time, Brittany spends time with her husband, three children, and many pets. As a dedicated teacher, my goal is to create a dynamic and encouraging space where students can truly thrive. I have been teaching since 2009, bringing a deep love for learning to the classroom every day, and am thrilled to be a part of this team. Outside of my professional life, my absolute favorite hobby is simply winding down and spending valuable time with my family.
