Fran Dyer, owner of Sylvan Learning Center, has loved working in the Centers for the past 25 years. It has been a fabulously rewarding career meeting with parents, classroom teachers, and or course, the students. While Fran’s career in Public Education encompasses teaching students at the Junior High level, Sylvan has provided her the opportunity to work with students from Kindergarten through High School. Sylvan has an excellent program and provided success for students at every level. Fran has both a Bachelors of Arts and a Masters Degree.
Jim Dyer, owner of 9 Sylvan Learning Centers, spent 30 years in California Public Education. He taught high school for 8 years and was a Junior High Principal for 24 years. Jim has also taught Junior College classes in Speech and worked with Chapman University in the teacher credentialing department for the Inland Empire. In 2001 Jim began working extensively with the Sylvan Learning Centers. The best part of Sylvan for Jim is the same as it was working in Public Education….working with students and parents! Jim earned both his Bachelor of Arts and his Masters Degrees from Whittier College, Whittier, California.
Executive Director - Franchise Owner
Carli Ganet is the Executive Director and Co-Owner of the 11 Sylvan Learning Centers owned by Jim and Fran Dyer. Carli received her Bachelors of Arts and Teaching Credential at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. Carli began her career with Sylvan as a student in the Rancho Cucamonga Sylvan Learning Center. She has been a Director of Education, Center Director and currently oversees the educational programs of Sylvan students as well as working with Directors and Parents. She loves working with Sylvan families!
Fred has been a Sylvan owner and operator for several years. He is currently the Director of the Riverside Sylvan Learning Centers. Fred attended College of the Redwoods for 2 years and Elmhurst College where he majored in Business Administration. Fred has a passion for Education and for Sylvan Learning! Helping the next generation of students grow their knowledge base is very rewarding. Fred is married with two grown children. He has 4 grandchildren and two miniature schnauzers. When Fred is not at Sylvan, he is enjoying his family and playing golf.
Director of Education
Marilyn earned her B.A. in English Literature from UC Riverside and is currently completing her Master’s at Cal Baptist University. She has been an English composition teacher for over two years, and has tutored elementary aged students for over 5 years. Marilyn loves working at Sylvan Riverside because she believes in the program, she sees progress with her students, and the staff members are all very passionate about their work.
Director of Business Development
Lisa White has worked for Sylvan Learning for close to 10 years as Director of Business Development. Prior, Lisa spent 19 years in the non profit/social services arena managing programs and services for high risk, disabled, and culturally diverse populations. Lisa earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Antioch University and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Pacific Southern University. Lisa has always been actively involved in her children’s school; serving as an E3 Foundation Board Member, PTA Board Member, and School Site Council Member at the Etiwanda School District. Lisa enjoys representing Sylvan throughout the community and actively engaging in networking events and business development groups. She feels that her career experience and passion for education helps to ensure that all students are afforded educational opportunities that foster growth and development. “ I am passionate about academic excellence and enjoy working in a vibrant student learning environment where students are supported and celebrated.”
Director of Media Marketing
Taryn is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Human Resources. As a former Center Director and Regional Director, Taryn comes to this position with a love for Sylvan Learning Centers.
Taryn is a mother to 4 handsome boys. When not working you will find Taryn at the soccer fields or at the grocery store.
Aramis graduated from the University of California, Riverside in 2015. He is currently working as a substitute teacher in the Riverside Unified School District in addition to tutoring at the Riverside Sylvan. He enjoys tutoring both math and reading in a small group format. He also likes using real life examples and different methods of teaching to help students grasp concepts more effectively. Aramis also enjoys teaching our robotics and engineering programs.
Marian has both an A.A. in Liberal Arts and a B.A. in mathematics. She taught middle school math for 11 years and high school math for 16 years! Here at the Riverside Sylvan, Marian tutors math, reading, and SAT Prep. Marian enjoys working with our students because they are motivated and eager to learn. She says that it is a joy to see a student overcome challenges to succeed.
Bill Grubbs is a graduate of the California State University at San Bernardino where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. He received his single subject teaching credential. He has worked as a long-term math substitute in the Colton Unified School District. He also works closely with beginning readers as well as math students of various levels. Bill loves being a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside because he enjoys connecting with the students!
Rolaundra Coleman earned her Bachelors of Art from the California State University at Northridge. She studied sociology at Northridge. She also received her CBEST certification from Northridge. She teaches elementary and middle school level reading, writing, and math. Rolaundra has experience as a co-teacher, lead teacher and childcare provider. She loves being a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside because she really values education and enjoys teaching!
Joyce Ng has over 15 years of experience as an educator. She worked as a math tutor, substitute, and permanent teacher in Texas. Joyce received her Bachelors of Science from the National University with a concentration on chemistry and mathematics. She is comfortable with all levels of reading, writing, and high school math. She loves tutoring at the Sylvan Learning in Riverside because she loves teaching children and the look on their faces when they master new skills.
Andrea Romero is attending Riverside City College and is majoring in Sociology. She is also certified as an Emergency Medical Services provider. Andrea plays a big role at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside as our teacher assistant! As the teacher assistant, she helps keep our center running smoothly and making sure our students, teachers, and directors are always taken care of. Andrea loves being a part of the Sylvan team because she thinks all the students and teachers here are amazing!
Waahida is a 5th-grade teacher with a multiple-subject teaching credential. She has been teaching for 3 years. Prior to teaching, she was a tutor for Kindergarten to 12th-grade students for 10 years. Waahida plans on getting her single-subject math credential and is working on her Ph.D. The Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside is happy to have Waahida as a tutor as she makes learning fun.
Francisco was a tutor at Riverside Community College for two years. He tutored all levels of college math. He also worked with various elementary-level students as well. His subjects include Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, and Calculus A, B, and C. He currently is a teacher’s assistant in an elementary class. He received his AA from RCC and is completing his BS at UCR in mathematics teaching for secondary schooling. Francisco will go on to pursue a Master’s in Education. He loves working at Sylvan Learning in Riverside because he gets to use his expertise to help his students make deep progress in math.
Allison has her BA in Liberal Studies. She also has a MA in Organizational Leadership from CBU. Allison teaches all levels of reading, writing, history, and chemistry. She loves working for Sylvan Learning in Riverside because she loves watching her students hit their educational goals and excel academically. The students love working with Allison because she keeps learning fun and engaging.
Rafael received his BA from UC Riverside with a concentration in Psychology. He then went on to get his Master’s degree in elementary education from Western Governors University. Rafael has worked as an AVID tutor, Prime Time tutor, a student teacher, and a behavioral therapist. His vast experience helps him work with all levels of students and all different fields. Rafael has tutored K-12 students for 5 years. He covers many subjects such as Chemistry, Trigonometry, and pre-calculus as well as all levels of reading. He loves working at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside because he loves seeing his students succeed academically.
Ginny is currently working as an instructional aide in the Riverside Unified District. She is completing her BA in Health Education at Cal State University San Bernardino. Ginny works with all levels of reading and writing. She also works with elementary-level math students. We are excited to have Ginny as a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside.
Corinne received her BA in English and an MA in Education from UC Riverside. She went on to work on her secondary English teaching credential. She worked as an AVID tutor for 4 years and as a substitute teacher for 3 years. Corinne loves working at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside because she loves working with children.
Alexus is a teacher assistant at the Sylvan Learning Center in Riverside. She worked as a co-teacher and a child caregiver prior to working at Sylvan. Alexus helps with the day-to-day management of the instructional floor, proctoring exams, and scheduling conferences with families. Alexus is now attending Riverside City College studying teaching and business where she also works as a reading tutor. Alexus loves working for Sylvan because the staff and families here are so welcoming.
