Our tutors and staff in West Winnipeg consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in West Winnipeg know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Les
Centre Owner
Les has been an accountant for over 40 years with his own practice in South Africa. He emigrated to Canada in December 2017 with his family. Les is very excited to be a part of Sylvan Learning Centre of North and West Winnipeg. His favourite thing about working at Sylvan is making a positive impact on both students’ and parents’ lives. In his free time Les enjoys watching live concerts and music, and collecting watches, LP records, CDs, and DVDs.
Stefan
Centre Administrator
Stefan Froese has been with Sylvan Learning of Winnipeg since 2021, though he tutored for the North Winnipeg location back in 2017. He recently completed his Master of Arts at CMU, and serves the administrative needs of Sylvan Learning customers and staff- Stefan loves a good spreadsheet! In his free time, Stefan enjoys watching sumo wrestling and spending time with his wife and daughters.
Jessica
Centre Director *ON MAT LEAVE*
As co-Centre Director, Jessica oversees the educational integrity of our Sylvan programs at our Kenaston location, and assists with general centre management. She has been with Sylvan Learning Winnipeg since the beginning of 2023, and is a qualified Foundation Phase Teacher from South Africa. Jessica’s favorite thing about Sylvan is watching student’s confidence grow once they start understanding concepts that they initially found difficult. She loves to explore Winnipeg in her free time and spend her time with friends and family.
Ashley
Centre Director
As co-Centre Director, Ashley attends to the general management of the Kenaston centre, as well as program management for Sylvan students. Ashley is a certified teacher that has been with Sylvan Learning Winnipeg for 6 years, first as a tutor, and now a Director. Her favourite part of working at Sylvan is celebrating student success as they learn and grow. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, Dungeons & Dragons, and reading.
Isla
Federal Funding Applications Clerk
Isla has been a part of the Sylvan team since August 2023 providing advocacy and application support for indigenous students through Jordan’s Principle as well as other federally funded programs. As an avid learner herself, she feels passionate about making educational support available to all students. Isla is always up for learning something new, whether professionally or recreationally. She loves board games and enjoys spending her free time creating, whether writing music on her guitar, doodling in a nearby park, or trying new recipes at home.
Nathan
Director of Education
As Director of Education, Nathan oversees the educational integrity of the Sylvan programs at our Kenaston location, and assists with general centre management. He has been with Sylvan Learning for 7 years, starting as a beloved tutor at our Henderson centre, and stepping into a Director role after obtaining his B.Ed in 2023. His favourite part of working at Sylvan is helping students to learn, grow, and exceed their own expectations. In his free time he enjoys reading, gardening, and hiking.
