We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Joshua Malyk
Owner
Joshua is a young entrepreneur who moved to the Brandon area in late 2021. Joshua has a child & youth care certificate with many years working with youth at risk. J saw the need for more educational support in Westman & decided to open up a familiar face that he thought would benefit young people. Prior to moving to Brandon, J was a teacher for Sylvan in Winnipeg. When J was young, he struggled with his bilingual, attending Sylvan for extra support. J believes in the Sylvan method & believes that it would help any young person that is struggling or wanting to advance their learning.
Deborah Malyk
Owner
Deborah Malyk is a former MB Government health worker. Deborah chose to begin her Sylvan journey because she knows that it works, having her own child in Sylvan many years ago. Deborah knows what it takes for a parent to have to decide that their child needs help. Deborah is personable & caring, she loves when a child “just gets it” & seeing the look on their face in that moment.

Denise joins our team as Director, bringing valuable experience from her previous years with Corrections. Her leadership, compassion & dedication to youth development helps guide our programs with purpose & care. Denise’s experience working closely with young people gives her a deep understanding of how to create supportive & engaging learning environments.
Yemi
Teacher
Yemi brings a calm, encouraging energy to every session. With his big, welcoming smile & gentle approach, he creates a space where students feel comfortable & confident to learn. His patience & kindness makes him not only a wonderful teacher but also someone that students truly enjoy spending time with.
Fran
Teacher
Fran brings a calm confidence & steady dedication to every lesson. With her strong work ethic & deep commitment to education, she helps students stay focused & motivated to reach their goals. Frans gentle guidance & consistent support makes her a trusted & dependable teacher who truly cares about her students growth.

Ying Ying is a dedicated & highly skilled educator with a strong background in mathematics. Holding a degree in math, she combines her deep subject knowledge with excellent teaching skills to help students understand even the most challenging concepts. Her commitment & enthusiasm for learning inspires confidence & curiosity in every student that she teaches.
