Kevin Mohabir

Tutor

Kevin (They/Them) has been working with Sylvan in and around Edmonton since 2012. They hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Science and Education from the University of Alberta and focus on teaching Science and Math in an approachable way. In their time outside of teaching, Kevin volunteers with local events, as well as exploring writing and game design. Kevin’s poetry and TTPRG work has been published with the Capital City Press and The Resplendent Cave, respectively.

Moath Yousef

Teacher

Director

As Executive Director of the North Edmonton, South Edmonton, and Leduc Sylvan Learning Centres, Moath Yousef leads with a deep commitment to helping families make informed, confident decisions about their children’s education. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a leading U.S. institution and brings a strong academic foundation together with years of hands-on experience supporting students across a wide range of ages and learning needs.

In his role as Executive Director, Yousef oversees centre operations, educational programming, staff development, and community outreach across all three locations. He works closely with families and educators to ensure each student receives a personalized learning plan that addresses both academic performance and confidence-building. With over a decade of experience teaching advanced mathematics, science, and literacy skills, Yousef has helped countless students close learning gaps and achieve lasting academic success.

Known for his clear communication, thoughtful mentorship, and results-driven leadership, Yousef is dedicated to maintaining high educational standards and a supportive learning environment at every Sylvan centre he leads. His goal is simple: to ensure every student reaches their full potential and every parent feels informed, supported, and confident in their child’s learning journey.

Dia El-Halabi

Teacher

Dia is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics and has a passion for making learning both engaging and rewarding. She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities, helping them develop a strong understanding of concepts while building confidence in their academic skills. Dia believes that every student has the potential to succeed and strives to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and take pride in their achievements. Outside of tutoring, she enjoys expanding her knowledge in science and mathematics and is dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of learning in her students.

Malak Assaf

Teacher

Malak is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta and is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. She believes that every child can succeed with the right support and enjoys creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and building confidence in their abilities.

Malak loves working with learners of all ages and takes pride in adapting her teaching approach to meet each student’s unique learning style and goals. Whether she’s helping a student strengthen foundational skills or tackle new challenges, she is committed to making learning engaging, meaningful, and rewarding.

Outside of the classroom, Malak enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends and is an active, dedicated volunteer in her community. Her caring nature, enthusiasm for education, and commitment to helping others make her a positive role model and a valued mentor for her students.

Jovan Misovic

Tutor

Jovan Misovic is a dedicated math and science tutor at Sylvan Learning who loves helping students build confidence and discover that learning can be both fun and rewarding. With a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Diploma in Geomatics from NAIT, Jovan combines strong analytical skills with a patient, encouraging teaching style that helps students tackle even the most challenging concepts.

Whether he’s breaking down tricky math problems or making science easier to understand, Jovan is passionate about inspiring students to reach their full potential. Outside of Sylvan, he enjoys gathering with friends for tabletop RPG adventures and exploring new recipes in the kitchen, where his creativity shines just as much as it does in the classroom.
