Our tutors and staff in North Edmonton consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in North Edmonton know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Kevin Mohabir
Tutor
Kevin (They/Them) has been working with Sylvan in and around Edmonton since 2012. They hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Science and Education from the University of Alberta and focus on teaching Science and Math in an approachable way. In their time outside of teaching, Kevin volunteers with local events, as well as exploring writing and game design. Kevin’s poetry and TTPRG work has been published with the Capital City Press and The Resplendent Cave, respectively.

Sureya Sherif
Teacher
Sureya is a dedicated educator and a certified teacher in Alberta, having recently graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Mathematics. She specializes in teaching High School Sciences and Math but also enjoys teaching English and working with a wide range of age groups. Beyond academics, Sureya is an enthusiastic badminton player, a committed volunteer, and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Misk Al Fadli
Teacher
Director
At Sylvan, Misk manages the day-to-day operations of the centre. Everything from scheduling and supporting families to coordinating tutors and ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes. What drew her to Sylvan was its mission to make learning personal and empowering for each student. She loves being part of a team that genuinely cares about student growth, not just academically but in their confidence and mindset too. It’s rewarding to know that the work we do helps create a space where kids feel supported, challenged, and capable.

Dia El-Halabi
Teacher
Dia is completing her Bachelors of Science in Physics & Math and enjoys teaching all subjects and age groups. She strives to encourage students to love and to take pride in their learning.

Abreeza Batool
Teacher
Abreeza is a second year undergraduate student at the University of Alberta, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Economics. She has a strong interest in Learning and Developmental Psychology. She is dedicated to helping students build long-term study skills and fostering positive, growth-oriented mindsets.
