Our tutors and staff in NW Calgary consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in NW Calgary know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Anita Sapre
Center Director
As Center Director, Anita leads community outreach and operations for Sylvan at Ranchlands NW. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as a tutor, high school teacher, and administrator. She holds a Master of Science in Chemistry. When Anita isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family and friends.

Avery Ha
Tutor/ Teacher
Avery is an experienced teacher who makes a world of difference in students’ lives, impacting their classroom learning and long term success. She holds a Bachelor of Sociology with a minor in Creative Writing. She also holds a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification. When Avery isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her cooking, reading, gardening, and spending time with family.

Nagwa
Tutor/Teacher
Nagwa is a retired surgeon, with a background in education. She has a gift for working with children of all ages in the Sylvan reading, math and study skills programs. While Nagwa has many talents, she has special expertise in tutoring high school level biology and putting young students at ease in our literacy program. She finds greatest joy in seeing her students grasp the meaning of the material. Nagwa is fluent in Arabic, and when she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her teaching English to newcomers from all over the world.

Elijah
Tutor/Teacher
Elijah is an enthusiastic teacher who values student confidence. He believes that building
their self-esteem is the single most powerful way to help students take control of their learning. Elijah’s broad academic background in both biology and linguistics makes him flexible to each student’s individual needs, but his true passion is chemistry and physics. In his free time, Elijah likes to read fantasy novels, practice Mandarin Chinese, and play strategy games.
