Sylvia

Sylvia Dombrowski

Center Director

Sylvia has been a Center Director with Sylvan Learning Center for over 22 years.  She oversees program integrity, personalization in students’ learning, and manages day-to-day operations for Sylvan of Eau Claire. She graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. As a teacher, Sylvia chose a career at Sylvan because of the personalized learning that Sylvan provides for all students. Helping students achieve academic and personal success is her passion. When Sylvia isn’t working at Sylvan, you’ll find her and her daughter visiting extended family, working on home projects, hiking, shopping, and reading.

Kayann Bock

Executive Director/Owner

Kayann has been with Sylvan Learning of Eau Claire, WI, since 1999 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Middle School Education from Winona State University. Kayann began teaching middle school and then decided to make a full-time career within Sylvan Learning. She loves Sylvan mostly because of the confidence and knowledge instilled in students, and for the personal relationships she develops with families. Kayann is happily married to her husband Corey and is the proud mother of Tristan and Makenna; as a family, they love to travel, hike, and go boating.

Sarah Taylor

Regional Education Director

Sarah graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a comprehensive degree in Special Education and obtained a graduate certificate in Intellectual Disabilities from Mankato State University.  She began her full-time career in Minnesota as an elementary special education teacher and was promoted to coordinate the special education department. Sarah moved back to Wisconsin to teach before transitioning to Sylvan, where she handles back-end operations and marketing. When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time outside, reading, walking her dog, visiting friends and family, and traveling!

Sherry Lesczykowski

Lead Teacher/Center Assistant

Sherry obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Trinity Bible College.  Before joining us at Sylvan, Sherry had been a 6th-grade Reading and Language Arts teacher.  She also had the privilege of being a 5th-grade teacher for five years.  Sherry loves helping the students at Sylvan achieve challenging concepts and watching those “light bulb” moments in their educational journey.  She enjoys reading, gardening, going on walks with her dogs, and spending time with family.

Dana Brehmer

Teacher

Dana obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Middle-Level Adaptive Education from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse.  She taught third grade at Monona Grove School District and comes to us with three years of tutoring experience.  Dana’s favorite part of working with students is discovering their unique learning styles and helping them achieve those special A-HA moments.  When she isn’t teaching at Sylvan, you will find Dana traveling with her husband and daughter, gardening, boating, volunteering at her church’s children/mentoring program, and spending time with pups Marble and Pippa.

Beth Frommelt

Teacher

Beth joins us as a veteran teacher from the Eleva-Strum School District.  There she taught math and geography.  Beth has been either teaching or tutoring math for over 30 years!  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from UWEC.  Beth enjoys teaching at Sylvan because the students are full of positive energy and really appreciate learning new skills.  When she isn’t teaching at Sylvan, Beth enjoys watching sports and playing golf with her family.  She stays active by practicing yoga and pickleball and relaxes by reading, shopping, and eating dark chocolate.

 

Alex

Alex Russell

Teacher

Alex is a Psychology major with a Chemistry minor, and his favorite subject to teach is Math. With two years of tutoring experience, he is passionate about helping students not only understand their subjects but also grow into more confident and successful learners. Alex loves working at Sylvan because it allows him to share his knowledge while fostering the growth of his students, helping them become brighter and more successful than he could have ever imagined. Outside of tutoring, Alex enjoys playing video games, reading fantasy books, and spending time with friends.

Alex Jarchow

Teacher

Alex J. is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. With five years of tutoring experience and two years of teaching at Sylvan, Alex’s passion lies in making math engaging and accessible for all students. Growing up in a small town, he developed a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and is committed to helping students of all backgrounds build confidence and academic skills. Outside of teaching, Alex enjoys coaching and playing basketball, spending time with friends, singing with the Singing Statesmen at UWEC, and tackling brain teasers and puzzles.

 

Kenzie

Makenzie Chmelik

Teacher

Makenzie is currently pursuing a degree in English Language Arts Education at UWEC. With two years of tutoring experience, she loves helping students build confidence in their skills and watching their growth firsthand. Her favorite subject to teach is English, and she finds joy in seeing students realize their progress. Outside of tutoring, Makenzie enjoys reading, writing, and painting.

Zoe Hodges

Teacher

Zoe holds a degree in Early Childhood–Middle Childhood Education with a Spanish minor from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. With five years of tutoring experience, she loves helping students grow in their skills and confidence. Her favorite subject to teach is reading, and she especially enjoys watching students develop not only in their learning, but as people. Outside of tutoring, Zoe enjoys playing soccer, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Shane Maier

Teacher

Shane is currently completing his associate’s degree and plans to pursue a bachelor’s in mathematics. He is enrolled at CVTC with future plans to attend UW–Stout. Shane enjoys teaching math and appreciates the unique perspectives students bring to the learning process. He loves working with students because their creative approaches often offer new ways to think about concepts. Outside of tutoring, Shane enjoys playing video games and watching movies.

Andrea Rosenthal

Teacher

Andrea is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary–Middle Education at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Her favorite subject to teach is math, and she loves hearing the creative ideas and stories students share. Andrea especially enjoys those “aha” moments when a concept finally clicks and students gain confidence in their understanding. Outside of tutoring, she enjoys coaching and playing volleyball, spending time with friends and family, and watching baseball—especially the Milwaukee Brewers.
