Our tutors and staff in Snohomish consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Snohomish know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Brian Danielson
Center Director
As Center Director, Brian leads conferences, financing, and oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors in Snohomish. He graduated from Washington State University. As a former teacher and coach in Snohomish, Brian brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Snohomish. When Brian isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him golfing, snowboarding, hunting and, of course, enjoying football.
Cathy Clayton
Tutor, office support, test proctor
A graduate of Carroll College in Helena, Montana, Cathy is a tutor with the Snohomish team. Cathy has many talents, but she finds her greatest joy in teaching Reading and Math. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
Gail Brimhall
Tutor
Gail is a Reading and Math tutor in Snohomish, WA. She earner her degree from Kansas University. Since joining the Sylvan team, she enjoys working with students in a smaller classroom setting. In her free time, Gail can be found camping, biking, sewing, and hanging out with her grandchildren and her corgi.
Megan Kilburn
Tutor
Megan earned her degree from Central Washington University. She joined Sylvan of Snohomish as a Reading and Math tutor. When Megan isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys gardening.
Andrea McInnis
Tutor
Andrea studied at Western Washington University before joining the Snohomish team as a tutor in Reading, Writing, and Math. In her free time, she can be found babysitting, solving crossword puzzles, and baking.
Dave VanKooten
Tutor
A graduate of Dordt College in Iowa, Dave is a Math and Reading tutor in Snohomish. When Dave isn’t at Sylvan, he enjoys gardening, reading, and watching the Seahawks and Mariners.
Judy Palmer
Tutor
Judy has worked at Sylvan of Snohomish for any years and just came back. She is a graduate of Central Washington University and University of Washington where she obtained a degree in literacy, special education, and early childhood. Previous to Sylvan Learning of Snohomish, Judy was a teacher in Lake Stevens and taught for 38 years in Elementary, especially Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Judy has many years of tutoring experience working as an instructor for Sylvan Learning, serving the Snohomish School District. She enjoys teaching a variety of subjects areas, including reading, math, and writing. In her free time, Judy enjoys animals, including her golden retriever – Zoey, gardening – especially sunflowers, and horses – including family horses in Montana and Wyoming.
Candace Dawson
Tutor
Candace Dawson has worked at Sylvan of Snohomish since 4/29/25. She is a graduate of Washington State University, where she obtained a degree in Education. Previous to Sylvan Learning of Snohomish, Candace was a substitute teacher in Lake Stevens. Candace has 2 years of tutoring experience working as an instructor for Sylvan Learning serving the Longview and Kelso School districts. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including elementary and middle school. In her free time Candace enjoys reading and embroidery, oh and anything Disney related.
