Our tutors and staff in Maple Valley consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Maple Valley know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Sage Piché
Center Director
Sage graduated summa cum laude from CWU, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Before becoming the Center Director of Sylvan Learning of Maple Valley, she was a tutor at Sylvan for a year and a half. She also has experience substitute teaching for the Tahoma School District. Sage has a strong passion for education and helping learners reach their goals.
Sage grew up in Maple Valley and thus is very familiar with the surrounding community. She has learned a great deal during her time in college, student teaching, and working for Sylvan. She continues to work towards improving her teaching and management skills and growing her repertoire of evidence-based teaching strategies. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas including Reading, Writing, Math, and Science.
In her free time, Sage enjoys playing video games, reading, baking, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Mackenzie Skaggs
Director of Education
As the Director of Education at Sylvan, Mackenzie brings a strong background in psychology and a passion for student growth. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and combines her academic foundation with hands-on experience as a paraeducator for 5 years in the Tahoma School District and as a former pharmacy technician. This diverse background reflects her adaptability and commitment to individualized learning.
Mackenzie is dedicated to understanding each student’s needs, tailoring strategies to support their unique learning journeys. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, reading books, collecting books (book dragon), playing board & video games, and traveling. Her curiosity and drive for continuous growth make her a dynamic leader in education.
