Our tutors and staff in Everett consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Everett know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Avnita Lakhani
Director
As Center Director, Avnita leads operations management, sales and enrollment, educational program management, local marketing, staffing and training, customer service and financials for Sylvan Learning of Everett. In 2022, Avnita was recognized and received an award as one of the Center Directors of the Year within the Sylvan Learning franchise that consists of over 800 locations. Avnita’s passion is offering a personalized learning experience and positive academic growth for all students at Sylvan of Everett. David Garlock
Tutor
David joined Sylvan of Everett in summer 2024. He has a master’s degree in education and 25 years of teaching experience. David works as a substitute teacher in the Everett Public School District. David’s expertise includes Language Arts/Reading (K-12), Math (K-8 including Algebra and Geometry), Writing, History and Social Studies (K-12), Spanish 1, 2, and 3 as well as College Test Prep (ACT and SAT). David also has extensive experience in AP History and AP Language Arts.
Over the last two years, David has consistently and positively impacted the academic and personal growth of our students. He is considered one of our students’ favorite teachers. From helping a student with learning differences achieve and “A” in a math course in school to successfully mentoring at least three students through Sylvan’s comprehensive SAT Prep program to achieve their composite score goals to helping countless students with homework help, David’s vast knowledge of national common core standards and extensive teaching experience is invaluable to the Center.

Danielle Greenstreet
Tutor
Danielle joined Sylvan of Everett in March 2025. Danielle earned her Masters of Education from Western Washington University. She also earned her Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in English Language Arts (Reading and Writing. She is also working towards an endorsement in middle-math. Danielle currently works as a paraeducator in the Mukilteo School District, providing a structured learning environment for those with learning differences such as autism. Prior to Sylvan, Danielle has extensive experience working within the education industry including English teacher at Stanwood High School, paraeducator at Glacier Peak High School, and prior tutoring experience. This diverse experience is important to our students and ensures they will learn important critical thinking and life skills along with meeting their Sylvan academic goals in math, reading, writing, homework support, and various other subjects. Danielle’s passion for helping students combined with her expertise in Reading (K-12), Writing (K-12), and Math (K-4) make her a valuable member of the Sylvan Everett team’s mission of helping your child excel during their academic journey.

David Schwarzburg
Tutor
David joined Sylvan of Everett in July 2026. David attends Henry M. Jackson High School with an exceptional GPA and academic record, including taking courses in AP Calculus, AP Physics 1, and AP World History. One of David’s major accomplishments is achieving 1st Place in International First Robotics Competition (FRC) in 2025 and 2nd Place in FRC in 2026. David was one of the leaders that helped his team achieve international recognition.
David’s experience in tutoring and mentoring students comes from helping and motivating younger team members of his FRC team achieve international recognition in a highly competitive robotics competition through knowledge of applied mathematics, reading and writing grant proposals, project management and teamwork.
David’s colleagues describe him as “a person of great character” with good communication skills, calm under pressure, collaborative, and humble with a sense of community.
David’s education and experience in Washington state, understanding national common core education standards, and working with students and adults make him a valuable team member to Sylvan of Everett.

Vivian Mei
Tutor
Vivian joined Sylvan of Everett in August 2026. Vivian earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Honors) from University of British Columbia, Canada and her Masters of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Simon Fraser University in Canada. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching in the United States. While earning her degrees, Vivian served as an undergraduate teaching assistant and a graduate teaching assistant.
Vivian has over 10 years of experience in tutoring and teaching math in various countries. Vivian has been tutoring students in math since she was in high school. Because of having wonderful teachers and mentors in school, Vivian “fell in love with math” at a young age. Her goal now is to help other students understand and love math also.
Vivian’s prior supervisor describes her as an effective and excellent teacher who is kind, patient, good at explaining math concepts to students and has excellent communication skills. Her teaching evaluations by students were “stellar”. One of Vivian’s private tutor clients described her as having an encouraging teaching approach.
Vivian’s experience working with a variety of students across multiple countries, her love of math and her desire to help students succeed in understanding and improving their math skills, as well as reading skills, makes Vivian a valuable member of the Sylvan of Everett Team.
