Kristy

Teacher

Kristy has a Bachelor’s degree from BYU in Family Science with a minor in Spanish. She has a special love for helping students grow in confidence and reach their goals. I especially enjoy teaching English to ESL students and love seeing their progress as they develop their language skills and gain confidence in themselves.

What drew Kristy to Sylvan is our focus on personalized learning and helping students succeed in a supportive way. She loves working with students in small groups and building strong connections as they learn and grow. Education is so rewarding to her because she believes strongly that every child can succeed with the right support, encouragement, and tools. One of Kristy’s favorite things about teaching is watching students realize they can do hard things—and seeing the pride on their faces when they succeed.

In her free time, she loves spending time with her children, reading books, and going on walks with her dog.

Kelsie

Teacher

Kelsie has her Masters of Elementary Education from Western Governors but her interest in becoming a teacher began with her time spent interacting with her 18 nieces and nephews. She spent time reading and doing art with them which led to her love of teaching. Kelsie enjoys drawing, writing stories, hiking, and exploring new places. She primarily teaches in our Riverton location but you may also see her in our other locations, too.

Lauren

Teacher

Lauren has a passion for helping others learn! She has her Bachelors of Education from BYU Idaho and teaches in our Riverton center. Lauren fits well with us here at Sylvan because she, too, believes learning should be personal. She feels strongly that all kids learn in different and unique ways. Lauren’s interests include the arts, science, and volleyball.

Tori Roper

Tori

Teacher

Tori has been with Sylvan since December 2025. She is a Mathematics Teaching major at the University of Utah, with a minor in Spanish. She plans on pursuing her masters degree in Educational Psychology post-grad. What draws her to education is the fact that she gets to help students as they develop and grow. As a teacher in our Riverton center, she is achieving this goal as she provides additional support to students as they move through their educational careers. She appreciates teaching in such a small group setting, allowing for a personalized approach that is more difficult to achieve in a large classroom.

Despite most of her free time being taken up by homework, she loves spending time with friends, watching TV shows with her roommate (especially Star Wars), playing the piano, listening to music, and collecting CDs. She has a little sister who influenced her love of working with kids. She inspires Tori throughout all of her teaching practice and continuously reminds her of why she loves what she does.
