How It Works

Using your Utah Fits All scholarship funds at Sylvan Learning is simple!
Our team will guide you through each step to help your student get started with a personalized learning plan.

STEP 1: PURCHASE THE INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Visit the UFA Marketplace and search for Sylvan Learning. Purchase the Initial Comprehensive Skills Assessment for your preferred location. We have two locations, in Lehi and Riverton.

STEP 2: SCHEDULE THE ASSESSMENT

• After your purchase, a Sylvan Center Director will contact you to schedule an appointment for your student’s comprehensive assessment.
• Assessment Time: Please plan on about 1 hour at the center.

STEP 3: REVIEW RESULTS + BUILD A LEARNING PLAN

Once the assessment is complete, your Center Director will:

• Review your student’s assessment results with you
• Make a program recommendation based on their results and your family goals
• Create their personalized learning plan
• Discuss scheduling options with you

STEP 4: PURCHASE SESSIONS IN THE UFA MARKETPLACE

Once your learning plan is finalized, you will return to the UFA Marketplace to purchase your sessions.

STEP 5: START SESSIONS

After your session(s) are purchased, your Center Director will:

• Confirm your student’s schedule
• Share your official start date and time
• Help your family get ready for sessions
• And your student is ready to begin!

Can I use UFA funds at Sylvan?
Yes! Your Approved UFA scholarship funds can be used for eligible Sylvan programs and services. Each student begins with a Sylvan’s Insight™ Skills Assessment.

What is the Initial Assessment? Does my child need it?
Yes. The Insight™ Skills Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that helps us identify your student’s specific academic strengths, current skill gaps, and individual learning needs. This is how we customize their personalized learning plan.

How long will the assessment last?
The assessment process typically takes about one hour to complete. Actual time may vary depending on your student’s pace and the number of subjects being assessed.

Is every program personalized?
Absolutely! We customize every student’s learning plan, based on their individual strengths, challenges, and academic objectives.

What is the structure of each session? How many students will be there?
Our low student-to-teacher ratio of no more than 4:1, ensures every student receives personalized instruction, encouragement, and support throughout each session.

Who are your teachers?
Our teachers are certified and/or licensed educators with experience teaching students of all ages and academic levels. Each instructor completes extensive Sylvan training to ensure they deliver instruction using the proven Sylvan Method™.

What is the schedule like? How often does my child attend?
Just like our programs, your student’s schedule can be personalized. Most students attend 4–6 sessions per week, depending on your goals and timeline for achieving them.

Is there anything we need to bring for sessions?
At Sylvan, we provide all materials needed for your student’s sessions. Students are welcome to bring a light snack, and water is available. To help maintain energy and focus, we encourage easy-to-eat snacks and ask that sugary treats be limited or avoided. A 10-minute break is built into the schedule between sessions for snacks, restroom breaks, and other fun activities.
