Melissa Jacobs

Center Director

Melissa is the Center Director of the Sylvan Learning Centers in Waco and Woodway, where she leads with passion, dedication, and a deep commitment to student success. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and brings both leadership and organizational expertise to her role. With over 5 years at Sylvan, Melissa is detail-oriented, creative, and highly driven—traits that carry through in everything she does. In her spare time, she enjoys racing, fishing, hunting, baking, and cooking. At Sylvan, the highlight of her day is welcoming students into the center, partnering closely with families, and helping set every child up for long-term success.

Jeannie Frost

Certified Tutor

Jeannie Frost has over 27 years of teaching experience and holds certifications in Early Childhood, Physical Education, Education, and Health. She is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a degree in Kinesiology and Education, and also of McLennan Community College with a degree in Business. She loves working with the students at Sylvan and watching them succeed. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, and kayaking on the lake.

Mary Lott

Mary Lott Peters

Certified Tutor

Mary Lott-Peters is an experienced educator specializing in English, language arts, history, reading, and Math for grades K–3. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in General Academics from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Lamar University. Mary is certified as an EC–4 Generalist, Special Education K–12, Grade 4–8 English, and ESL K–12, allowing her to support a wide range of learners with diverse needs. She is passionate about helping students build strong foundations and confidence in their learning. Outside the classroom, Mary enjoys collecting antiques, refinishing furniture, and reading.

Noorah Ghazwani

Certified Tutor

Noorah Ghazwani is an accomplished tutor specializing in science, advanced math, and exam and test preparation. She holds a Master of Science in Physics from Baylor University and brings a deep understanding of complex concepts, helping students break them down into clear, manageable steps. Noorah is known for her structured, confidence-building approach that empowers students to perform their best on exams. Outside the classroom, she enjoys building with LEGO, cross-stitching, and reading comic books—interests that reflect her creativity, curiosity, and love of problem-solving.

Eshella

Eshella Jackson

Certified Tutor

Eshella Jackson is a passionate educator who specializes in reading, math, technology, and early reading development. She holds a Bachelor of General Studies in Education and is EC–4 grade certified, bringing a strong foundation in early childhood instruction. Eshella is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that helps young learners build confidence and essential skills. Outside the classroom, she enjoys cooking, singing, and gardening, interests that reflect her creativity and nurturing approach to teaching.

Colby McFarland

Certified Tutor

Colby McFarland is a dedicated tutor specializing in core subjects including English, math, and science. He is a certified substitute teacher and CPR certified, bringing both instructional expertise and a strong commitment to student safety and success. Colby enjoys making learning engaging and approachable for every student. Outside the classroom, he loves playing games, chess, and swimming, which helps him connect easily with students and encourage a balanced approach to learning.
