Meet Our Team

Stormy is our Center Director for Sylvan of Southlake. She has a total of 7 years teaching or in childcare, and has work at Sylvan for 2 years. At Sylvan Stormy loves making a difference in families lives, she loves being able to help her community and the future generation. She loves supporting her teachers, making meaningful relationships with the students, and being a mentor for students as they are thinking about their futures! She graduated from University of North Texas with a B.S. In Rehabilitation Services she also has a Certificate of Childhood and Adolescent Psychology from Chicago School of Professional Psychology and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Chicago School of Professional Psychology. When Stormy is not at Sylvan, you can find her hanging out with friends and family, reading a book, playing video games, or loving on her two kitties!

Jacob Jones

Certified Tutor

Jacob is an instructor for Sylvan of Southlake. He has a total of 14 years of teaching experience, and has been working at Sylvan for 5 years! Jacob thrives at Sylvan, mentoring students through their academic and life challenges. He cherishes supporting a dedicated team, the positive atmosphere, and the strong curriculum guiding students toward progress. He graduated from Centary College of Louisiana with a B.A. In Psychology, and a minors in neuroscience, and French; Dallas Theological Seminary with a M.A. in Media Arts, M/A/ in Christian Studies; and Publishing certificates from the University of Denver and Columbia University. His teaching certificates are EC-8 Generalist, Secondary ELA, and Secondary Composite Science. When Jacob is not at Sylvan he works as a freelance writer and editor working for two traditional book publishers, and a marketing firm for self-published authors.

Mary Ann Leasman

Certified Tutor

Mary is an instructor for Sylvan of Southlake. She has a total of 18 years in education and 6 years working at Sylvan! At Sylvan Mary loves watching the students grow and succeed in their studies. She graduated from University of Texas at Arlington with her Masters of Science. Her teaching certifications are EC-8 ESL, and as a Generalist. When Mary is not at Sylvan, you can find her running, working on DIY Projects, cooking, or reading a book!

Cindy McDonald

Certified Tutor

Cindy is an instructor for Sylvan of Southlake. She has a total of 37 years of teaching experience. At Sylvan, Cindy loves working with the students and creating a lasting impression for all the students she teaches. She graduated from Lamar University with her Bachelors of Art, and Pansacola Christian College for her Masters of Science. Her teaching certifications are in General Elementary, Secondary English and Secondary History. When Cindy is not at Sylvan, you can find her reading a book, crocheting, or baking!

Marilyn Weber

Certified Tutor

Marilyn has utilized her 42 + years of classroom teaching in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, inspiring students toward their educational goals at Sylvan Southlake since 1998. Marilyn holds her BA and MA degrees from Rosary College, NIU, and TCU, with dual certifications in Illinois and Texas for 6-12 History and English. She is currently working towards her Doctorate. She enjoys volunteering at her church, playing the piano, gardening, playing crossword puzzles, and reading historically based novels.

Laura Moore

Certified Tutor

Laura Moore is an instructor for Sylvan Learning of Southlake. Before coming to Sylvan, she taught in Texas and Kansas! She holds a BA in Elementary Education and MS in Special Education/Counseling from Baylor University. Education was the perfect major for her in college and she has used her knowledge for teaching in may ways throughout the years and now the past 10 years. She loves being able to share her love of teaching with her students at Sylvan which brings her great satisfaction. When Laura is not at Sylvan you will see her spending time with her grand-girls, at church activities, or exercising at the gym!

Laure Pilgrim

Laure is a certified teacher in Southlake, TX with a gift for working with kids. While Laure has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in English/language Arts tutoring. She studied at the University of Missouri. When Laure isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her running, working out or playing with her grandchildren!

Lacey Phillips

Certified Tutor

Lacey is an instructor for Sylvan of Southlake. She has a total of 8 years of teaching experience! At Sylvan Lacey loves getting to help students, whether it is learning something new or helping them with something they are struggling to figure out. Seeing the look on their face once they master a skill in her words are “truly priceless”. She graduated from University of North Texas with a bachelors in Radio/TV/Film. Her teaching certifications are as a Generalist and ESL K-12. When she is not at Sylvan you can find her reading a book, baking, traveling or just spending time with her beloved pets!

Alec Brown is an instructor for Sylvan Learning of Southlake. He has almost 2 years of teaching experience, and has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science! At Sylvan he loves being able to teach math and reading to the students and seeing how the students learn, grow, and understand the material! When Alec is not at Sylvan, you can find him doing complicated math, coding programs, and reading a book!

Faith Stibora

Director Assistant

Faith is our director assistant for Sylvan of Southlake. At Sylvan, she enjoyed working with the teachers and getting them anything when they need it, as well as working with the kids whether it is getting them checked in to go to their class, or getting them a prize at the motivation station for all of their hard work!
