Meet Our Team

Jacki Merucci

Center Director

As Center Director, Jacki manages new enrollments, community outreach, and the ongoing training of our team at Sylvan of Rockwall-Heath. Jacki graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce with a degree in Social Work. She has vast experience working with children’s developmental and academic needs. When Jacki isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing with her dog, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Rebecca Ackmann

Regional Director

As part of our Regional Director team, Rebecca supports our center teams and works with families to achieve their academic goals with Sylvan. A former teacher, Rebecca chose a career in the tutoring business because she strives to see students reach their individual potential. She studied at Northern Illinois University. When Rebecca isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watching movies and spending time with her family.

Erin Burke

Director of Education

Erin oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors. A graduate of Texas Woman’s University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Erin holds a teaching certificate for grades EC-6. She is passionate about helping kids achieve success and loves seeing the growth students make at Sylvan. In her free time, Erin enjoys game nights with friends and playing with her dogs. 

Rachel Franklin

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Rachel oversees operations at our Bedford, West Richardson, Rockwall-Heath and Aledo-Weatherford locations. She works closely with center directors and directors of education in their ongoing training and development, focusing on center growth, academic success and customer service. A graduate of Rice University, Rachel has worked with Sylvan Learning for over twelve years. She loves seeing students grow to achieve their highest potential. When not at Sylvan, Rachel enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with family.

DeAnne Calverley

Teacher

DeAnne is an ESL Teacher in Mesquite ISD, and has a gift for working with kids. While DeAnne has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math and reading tutoring. She studied at Texas A&M Commerce. When DeAnne isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her running and spending time with her children.

Samuel Flash

Teacher

Samuel is a teacher at Sylvan of Rockwall-Heath with a love for teaching and for working with kids. While Samuel has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in English and Language Arts tutoring. He studied at Stephen F. Austin University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and English. He holds certifications in Speech and Theatre. Samuel’s favorite thing about education is that he can make a positive impact and mentor students. When not at Sylvan, you’ll find Samuel practicing martial arts and acting. 

Sally Riman

Teacher

Sally is a teacher at Sylvan of Rockwall who loves to see children learn and grow. While she has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching reading, art and music. Sally earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Ottawa. When not at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, enjoying and playing music, and clog dancing. 

Sam Wallace

Teacher

Sam is an upper level math and science teacher at Sylvan of Rockwall-Heath, with a passion for helping students to see and manifest their potential. While Sam has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in teaching Physics, Geometry and Calculus.  He studied at the University of North Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. When Sam isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him wake boarding, programming micro controllers, exercising or reading.

Terri Culp

Teacher

Terri is a teacher at Sylvan of Rockwall-Heath, with a love for math she wants to share with her students . While Terri has many tutoring talents, math and science are her favorites. Terri studied at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where she earned her BS in Physics, and the University of California at Irvine, where she earned her MBA. Terrie is state certified to teach math, grades 4-12.  When Terri isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, diamond painting and doing cross-stitch.

Rylie Robertson

Teacher

Rylie is a graduate of Texas A&M Commerce, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Learning and Technology. She joined the education field because she wanted to make a difference in students’ lives, like her past teachers made for her.  Outside of Sylvan, you’ll find Rylie playing with her dogs, running and kayaking.

Stephanie Roman

Teacher

Stephanie is a high school math teacher and tutor at Sylvan Learning of Rockwall-Heath. Stephanie became a teacher to help kids build confidence and discover the joy of learning. She studied at University of North Texas, where she earned a BS in Mathematics. In her free time Stephanie enjoys watching movies and music .

Becky Nabors

Teacher

Becky is a teacher at Sylvan Learning of Rockwall-Heath with a passion for educating kids. She loves learning about her students’ interests, and what motivates them. Becky studied at Texas Tech University, where she earned her a Bachelor and Master Degree in Spanish Literature & Language, and Texas A&M Commerce, where she earned her Masters in Education Curriculum and Instruction. She holds teaching certificates in English Language Arts and Reading, 8-12, Generalist 4-8, and Spanish. When not at Sylvan, Becky spends her time with her family and dogs, enjoying the outdoors and hiking.
