Our tutors and staff in Murphy consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Murphy know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Jaime White
Center Director
Jaime earned her Bachelor’s of Education from Stephen F. Austin University. She worked as a Speech Pathologist assistant and taught Kindergarten before becoming a stay-at-home mom. After raising and homeschooling three boys, she got back in the classroom to substitute teach and then tutor at Sylvan. She transitioned to Center Director in 2023 and loves getting to know every student and their families. In her free time, Jaime enjoys spending time with her husband, grown up boys, her parents, and her sweet Golden Retriever Phoebe.

Joan R
Certified Tutor
Joan has been a teacher for 40 years. Originally from New Jersey, she is a graduate of Seton Hall University with certifications in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 2011, she relocated to Texas with her two children. She has taught in private and public schools, adult education, SAT prep programs, and community centers with emphasis on reading, composition, and art. Currently, she teaches infants in daycare.
Joan’s interests are music, reading, art, theater, and travel. She enjoys meeting new people and learning new things.

Liz G
Certified Tutor
Elizabeth (Liz) has been a teacher for 27 years. She is a transplant from California where she received her undergrad degree from California State University, Stanislaus with a focus on English. After that, she continued her studies and earned a graduate degree in teaching. Liz has taught elementary, junior high, and high school. Currently, she is teaching in the Wylie School District at the 6th grade level.
Liz loves to read books, enjoys riding bikes, and spends time with her five grandchildren. If she’s not doing her favorite things, she is attending the ballet, theater, or shopping for new books.
