Meet Our Team

Judy T.

Teacher, K-8

Judy has been a Sylvan teacher for 20 years! She is a retired K-6 ESL and classroom teacher who loves teaching reading, writing, math and study skills. Above all, she loves kids of all ages! Judy grew up in CA and even worked at Disneyland in college. She has lived in DC, Virginia, Rhode Island, and her very favorite, Oregon, since 1978.  You might find her on a a plane to FL to visit the OTHER Disney as well as her daughters and her two adorable grandsons. Come see Judy, but be prepared to smile, ’cause that’s what she does all the time!

Andrew C.

Teacher, 6-12

Andrew  is a rock-star teacher who lives in Hillsboro, OR. Andrew has a gift for working with students. While he has many tutor talents, he finds the greatest joy in tutoring upper level math! Andrew studied mathematics at Oregon State University. When he isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing piano or studying the game of baseball.

Vincent N.

Teacher, 6-12

Vincent grew up in fertile farm country of the San Joaquin Valley of California. Vincent has taught English and ELD in public high schools in Central and Southern California, and has been a Sylvan Tutor for six years. He has lived Oregon for two years now. He and his fiancée enjoy nature walks and hiking all over Oregon. Vincent especially likes teaching Writing, SAT/ACT Prep, Algebra, and helping students prepare for college. In recent years, Vincent has had poetry, essays, and fiction published in variety of literary magazines and anthologies in the U.S. and in the U. K. When he is not at Beaverton Sylvan, he enjoys reading and collecting books and owns over 5000.

Amy Paradis

Teacher, 6-12

Director

Amy is the Director/Owner of the Beaverton Sylvan. Amy has a business background in the corporate accounting industry.  She is thrilled to be a part of the Beaverton team and continue this center’s long history of serving students in our community. (This was the first Sylvan to EVER open!)

Katria H.

Office Manager

Katria is the Office Manager at Sylvan Learning Center located in Beaverton, Oregon. She has over 13 years of experience working with children from preschool to age 18.  When Katria isn’t in the center, coloring or doing trivia with the kids, she can be found researching her next adventure to another country, playing with her two cats, or learning German. Katria studied History and American Sign Language at Western Oregon University, and prides herself on her knowledge of geography and her passion to learn about the history and culture of those she has yet to meet. Katria is passionate about creating an inclusive and safe environment for everyone who walks through the center doors.

Emilia G.

Education Coordinator, Teacher

Emilia is the Education Coordinator at Sylvan Beaverton. She has a wide range of tutoring talents, from the beginnings of reading to upper-level mathematics, including calculus and beyond – she’s even taught calculus for middle schoolers! Emilia studied Physics at Oregon State University and studied educational philosophy for both mathematics and physics. She has a keen eye for the knowledge that Sylvan students bring into the center, and works quickly to bridge their current understanding with their academic goals. Outside of Sylvan, Emilia lives in Beaverton and enjoys board games, reading, creative writing, and being a mother to two cats, a dog, and a toddler.
