Mike Hazen

Center Director/Owner

Director

Mike Hazen is the Owner and Center Director of Sylvan Learning of Park Ridge-Montvale, NJ. After a 20 year career as an attorney and partner in a New Jersey based law firm, Mike made the move to local entrepreneur where he looks to serve as a valuable resource to the students, families and schools of his community. Mike did his undergraduate studies at Manhattan College, worked towards his Masters in Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and obtained his law degree from Pace University School of Law. When not at Sylvan, you will find Mike & his wife Christine cheering on their son Charlie at baseball games all over northern NJ and beyond.

Domonique Jackson

Teacher

Domonique is a former physics coach and tutor with a strong background in science education. Now a microbiologist at a major pharmaceutical company, she brings real-world expertise and a passion for teaching to Sylvan Learning of Park Ridge-Montvale. As an instructor, she specializes in High School Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and SAT Prep, helping students build confidence and achieve academic success.

Becky Honaker

Marketing and Administrative Director

Becky has been in the education field for the past 20 years in various roles as a teacher, administrator, and director. She has a degree in Elementary Education. Her love of learning and education took her abroad to teach in China, which further developed her appreciation for other cultures. She has been working with Sylvan since 2021; first as a Director of Education and then Center Director for a center in PA until she married in 2024 and moved to NJ. She now joins Sylvan Learning Center of Park Ridge-Montvale, NJ as the Marketing and Administrative Director. When not at Sylvan, Becky enjoys hiking, kayaking, traveling, reading, and visiting family with her husband, Jason.

Eric Bilis

Teacher

With a Master of Arts in Education (Learning Design and Technology) from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Ramapo College of New Jersey, Eric is dedicated to helping students succeed. Eric currently teach grades 6 and 7, focusing on creating engaging, student-centered learning environments that inspire curiosity and confidence. His approach combines personalized instruction with innovative technology to meet the diverse needs of learners. At Sylvan Learning of Park Ridge-Montvale, Eric’s mission is to empower students to achieve their academic potential and build a strong foundation for lifelong success.

Jiya Patel

Tutor

Jiya is a graduate of Hofstra University, where she was recognized as a Provost Scholar. She majored in Biology with minors in Biochemistry and Economics, showcasing her strong analytical and scientific background. Jiya will be taking her academic success to medical school later this year. At Sylvan Learning of Park Ridge-Montvale, Jiya excels in tutoring High School Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and SAT Prep, helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
