With over two decades of experience as both a classroom teacher and learning center director, Mark is passionate about helping students unlock their full academic potential. His expertise spans reading, writing, math, study skills, science, and SAT/ACT prep—empowering students to build skills, confidence, and motivation at every level.
A proud West Windsor/Plainsboro native, Mark holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and an undergraduate degree from Hofstra University. His deep roots in the community and commitment to educational excellence make him a trusted partner for families throughout Mercer County.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Mark leads a team of State Certified Teachers who provide personalized instruction for students performing below, at, or above grade level—including gifted and advanced learners. Mark personally meets with every family to understand each child’s unique needs. Through comprehensive assessments, his team identifies strengths and areas for growth, ensuring every student receives the best possible support.

Amy Kance

At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, education is truly a family affair! Since joining her husband Mark as Managing Director in 2012, Amy has brought her passion for learning and her commitment to excellence to every aspect of the center. A proud graduate who earned her Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude, Amy’s academic achievements reflect her dedication to helping others succeed.
Amy is the heart of Sylvan’s daily operations—a true “do-it-aller.” She expertly manages the center, supports the teaching staff, and handles all scheduling needs. Amy is also highly skilled in conducting Sylvan Skills Assessments in Math, Reading, Writing, Study Skills, and test prep for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and PSAT. Her keen insight allows her to identify each child’s unique strengths and learning needs.
What sets Amy apart is her genuine care for every student and family. She takes the time to guide parents through their child’s educational journey, offering clear next steps and personalized support. Amy’s ability to help children reach their academic goals not only boosts their skills, but also transforms their confidence and attitude toward school.

Ms. Rebecca
Teacher & Program Manager: Reading, Writing, Math (Through Precalculus), SAT Prep, ACT prep, SSAT Prep, Speed Reading
Ms. Rebecca graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in Elementary and Special Education, along with a minor in Mathematics. She is a certified teacher with several years of experience as a high school math instructor. Before that, she taught in an inclusive elementary school setting, where she provided individualized support to students with ADHD, ODD, and Autism.
Known for her kindness, patience friendliness, Ms. Rebecca always tries to help wherever needed! She also has a genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential. At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, she manages our math programs teaches Reading, Writing, Math, SAT Prep, ACT Prep, SSAT prep and provides homework support to help students develop confidence and academic success.
Ms. Becky
Education and Administrative Director
Becky is our Education and Administrative Director! While working from home, as she lives a bit too far from our center in Hamilton, Becky brings more than 20 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, administrator, and director.
Ms. Becky holds a degree in Elementary Education and has a deep passion for helping students grow as learners. Her career took her abroad to teach in China, where she gained a valuable appreciation for global perspectives and diverse cultures. Becky joined Sylvan in 2021, first as a Director of Education and later as a Center Director in Pennsylvania. After relocating to New Jersey in 2024 with her husband, Jason, she is excited to continue serving families at Sylvan Learning Center of Hamilton Township.
Outside of work, Becky enjoys hiking, traveling, being active in her church, crafting, reading, and spending time with family.
Ms. Nicole
Teacher: Reading, Writing, Math and Study Skills
Ms. Nicole received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Rutgers University and a Master’s in Reading and Language Arts. Nicole holds a teaching certification in Elementary Education as well as supervisory certifications.
At the Sylvan Learning Center of Hamilton, Ms. Nicole teaches Reading, Writing, Math, and Study Skills. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and their pets. –
Mr. Jose
Tutor: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, SAT Math and ACT Math
Mr. Jose holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and was part of an honors program during college. While he possesses previous experience as a child caretaker, his primary passion is bringing his patientce and skill to teaching mathematics to students of all ages. This includes students who need to catch up, keep up or get ahead!
His expertise spans various math subjects, including Geometry, Applied Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Calculus I, and Calculus II. At The Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Mr. Jose enjoys tutoring students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, SAT Math, and ACT Math.
In his free time, Mr. Jose enjoys playing tabletop games with friends!
Ms. Stephanie
Teacher: Phonics, Reading, Writing, Math and Study Skills, Speed Reading
Ms. Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology with a minor in Special Education. She graduated with her Master’s in Special Education with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Ms. Stephanie does a wonderful job working with children who think and see the world just a bit differently.
Ms. Stephanie has taught for over a decade in many different special education classrooms, but is currently teaching in the elementary setting.
In her free time, Ms. Stephanie enjoys reading. At the Sylvan Learning Center of Hamilton, Stephanie will be teaching reading, writing and math.
Ms. Teresa
Tutor: Reading, Writing, Study Skills, SAT Prep, ACT Prep, Praxis
Ms. Teresa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education Social Studies and a Master’s in School Counseling.
Ms. Teresa is skilled and patient in supporting students with diverse learning needs, from those with learning challenges to those seeking advanced academic enrichment. Before joining Sylvan, Ms. Teresa dedicated several years to behavioral health, where she worked with students facing emotional and behavioral challenges. She also has previous experience as a tutor.
At the Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Ms. Teresa supports students in reading, writing, study skills, elementary math, Reading/Writing SAT/ACT Prep and Praxis test preparation.
Ms. Gabrielle
Teacher and Administrator: Phonics, Reading, Writing and Study Skills
Ms. Gabrielle holds an undergraduate degree in Elementary / Special Education & English. She also holds her teaching certificate in elementary along with middle school level with Advanced Standing and currently teaches middle school Language Arts.
At the Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Ms. Gabby teaches phonics, reading, writing, & study skills. She also supports the center with administrative functions!
Ms. Beverly
Teacher: Reading, Writing and Study Skills, Speed Reading
Ms. Beverly is certified to teach K-12 English, holding teacher preparation and certification in both Elementary and Secondary English Education. She currently teaches middle school language arts and has experience working with gifted students, including those who are academically advanced and seeking additional challenges.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Ms. Beverly teaches reading, writing, and study skills.
Ms. Liz
Teacher: Reading, Writing, SAT Prep, ACT Prep, Study Skills
Ms. Liz joined the Sylvan Learning Center with a skillset in all subjects verbal and a strength in connecting with her students!
While Ms. Liz studied psychology in college, she also attended a teaching academy with a focus on early childhood. Ms. Liz has a great deal of patience with the ability to meet students ‘where they are’. She has a wonderful ability to understand how her students process information so that she can better help them to build their skills, confidence and motivation!
Mr. Joe
Teacher: Reading, Writing, Math, SAT/ACT Prep and Study Skills
Mr. Joe is a highly experienced educator who is now teaching at Sylvan Learning of Hamilton.
Mr. Joe has a strong background in education, having previously served as a teacher and Assistant Principal. He also taught K-6 students at a Catholic school. Currently, he is the Director of Special Education at a local high school. Mr. Joe is known for his patience, quick wit, and deep understanding of diverse learning styles, which he uses to enhance students’ skills, confidence, and motivation.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Mr. Joe teaches K-12 reading, covering comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and phonics. He also instructs students in grades 2-12 writing, K-Algebra math, SAT and ACT prep, and study skills. He is passionate about helping students discover their full potential and build confidence.
Ms. Juli
Tutor: Reading, Writing, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT Prep
In addition to a wide range of teaching experience, Ms. Julie is certified to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages. brings a unique blend of technical and creative communication expertise due to her degree in communications and computer science! She is also passionate about helping English language learners thrive. Currently, Ms. Juli works with high school students, making Algebra both accessible and enjoyable!
Her experience extends to younger learners as well—she has delighted in serving as a substitute librarian for grades K-5, nurturing a love of reading in children of all ages. Outside the classroom, Ms. Juli is an avid reader and a talented pianist, always eager to share her love of learning and the arts.
At the Sylvan Learning Center in Hamilton, Ms. Juli teaches reading, writing, math, study skills, SAT/ACT prep and speed reading. Ms. Juli’s diverse background and warm, encouraging approach make her a wonderful mentor for students of all ages and backgrounds. She can’t wait to help your child achieve their academic goals!
Ms. Josie
Teacher: Reading, Writing, Verbal SAT Prep & Study Skills
Ms. Josie graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Dance Studies, and also completed a minor in Special Education. Her dedication to education is further demonstrated by her recent experience working as a high school level special education support specialist in a local school district. She is kind, patient and works well with various students including those who are struggling and those who want to become more advanced academically.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Ms. Josie specializes in teaching K-12 reading and writing, as well as providing instruction in SAT prep, speed reading, and study skills. Her diverse background and expertise make her a valuable asset to our students.
In her free time, Ms. Josie enjoys dancing and spending time with her friends.
Mr. Chris
Tutor: Reading, Writing, Study Skills
While pursuing a degree in education, Mr. Chris incorporated his academic focus to include history as that is a passion of his. Prior to joining Sylvan, Mr. Chris had extensive experience supporting special education students, where he oversaw middle and high school students.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Mr. Chris currently teaches reading, writing, study skills, verbal SAT prep and verbal ACT prep.
Mr. Tony
Teacher: Reading, Writing, Study Skills,
Mr. Tony is a certified teacher who spent a large part of his career in public service. In addition to this service, he also became a writer but really enjoys working with students in grades K-12 to help them improve reading, writing & study skills!
At Sylvan, Mr. Tony teaches reading, writing, study skills & SAT/ACT prep.
Ms. Victoria
Tutor: Early Literacy, Reading, Writing
Ms. Victoria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (and was on Dean’s List!) Additionally, she also holds a certification to teach students in basic skills in grades 6-12. Currently, and for the past few years, Ms. Victoria has been a classroom teaher in an elementary school where she enjoys building positive relationships with students, families and involving everyone in the educational process.

Mr. Justin
Tutor: SAT Prep, ACT Prep, SSAT Prep, Reading, Writing, Study Skills and Speed Reading
Mr. Justin brings a Master of Arts in Education and Secondary English to Sylvan Learning Center. In addition to his work at Sylvan, he is a current writing professor at Rutgers University. With more than 15 years of experience in reading, writing, and SAT/ACT preparation, Mr. Justin has helped countless students strengthen their academic skills and craft compelling college application essays.
He is passionate about helping students build confidence in their English grammar, reading comprehension, and vocabulary, as well as preparing them for success on standardized tests. At the Sylvan Learning Center in Hamilton, Mr. Justin teaches SAT Prep, ACT Prep, Reading, Writing, Study Skills, Speed Reading, and more.
Mr. Bill
Tutor: Math, Math SAT
Mr. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics along with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology! He brings many years of math tutoring experience, working with both school-aged and college students. Mr. Bill is passionate about helping students improve their math skills, build confidence, and increase their motivation through patient, methodical teaching methods.
At Sylvan, Mr. Bill teaches a wide range of math subjects, including K-8 arithmetic, numbers and operations, word problems, algebra, data analysis, statistics, probability, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, SAT/ACT preparation, and precalculus!
Ms. Kaitlyn holds a Master’s degree in Quantitative Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Research Psychology! She is currently working as math teacher in one of our local school districts! Previously to joining the teaching field, Ms. Kaitlyn worked in market research, where she specialized in analyzing and presenting complex data to diverse audiences. Kaitlyn is passionate about making math accessible and engaging for all students, drawing on both her analytical background and classroom experience.
At the Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Ms. Kaitlyn teaches elementary through 12th grade math including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus and Statistics!
Mr. Steffen
Tutor: K-12 Math including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, SAT Prep and ACT Prep
Mr. Steffen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education and recently earned his Master’s Degree. He currently serves as a high school mathematics teacher in a local school district, where he shares his passion for learning and problem solving with his students.
Known for his positive attitude and patience, Mr. Steffen excels at explaining complex mathematical concepts in clear and engaging ways. He helps students develop a strong understanding of the material while ensuring their time at the center is enjoyable and rewarding.

Mr. Mark

Mr. Mark earned his Bachelor of Arts in Historical Studies in Education and has a deep passion for history. Alongside his academic expertise, he has a strong ability to build positive relationships with students, particularly those who face academic or behavioral challenges.
In addition to being a dedicated teacher at Sylvan, Mr. Mark brings a sense of humor and lightheartedness to his sessions, creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. At the Sylvan Learning Center of Hamilton across from the Princeton BMW dealership on Quakerbridge Road (Mercer County), he teaches Reading, Writing, SAT Prep, ACT Prep, Speed Reading, and provides Homework Support.

Mr. Calvin
Tutor: Math (Including Precalculus, Calculus), SAT Prep, ACT Prep, Chemistry, Physics and Biology
Mr. Calvin has been a valuable member of the Sylvan Learning Center of Hamilton since joining in the summer of 2025. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Chemistry with a minor in Political Economy and Biological Physics. His diverse academic background, combined with his experience as a Research Assistant and Neurology Assistant, allows him to connect complex concepts to real-world applications that help students thrive academically.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Mr. Calvin helps students strengthen their understanding and confidence in Algebra, Calculus (I–III), Probability, Linear Algebra, Physics, and related STEM subjects. Through his patient and encouraging teaching style, he helps learners improve problem-solving skills, master challenging topics, and develop lasting motivation for math and science.
Mr. Calvin plans to attend medical school in the future, but for now, he continues to inspire students at Sylvan by making learning engaging and approachable. His commitment to academic excellence and student success makes him an essential part of the Sylvan Hamilton tutoring team.

Mr. Isaiah

Mr. Isaiah joins us at The Sylvan Learning of Hamilton a a part time teacher in reading and writing. He currently works at a school for special needs students, where he supports learners in achieving their academic goals. With a background in tutoring and behavioral support, he brings a thoughtful and individualized approach to each student he works with.
Drawing on his past experience as a game designer, Mr. Isaiah connects with students in creative and engaging ways that make learning both fun and meaningful. He is known for his kindness, patience, and consistently positive attitude, helping every student feel supported and confident in their abilities. At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, he teaches Reading and Writing.
Mr. Aleks
Tutor: K-12 Math including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, SAT Prep and ACT Prep
Mr. Aleks joins Sylvan Learning of Hamilton with an strong background and a passion for education. He holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and graduated with a near 4.0 GPA. His expertise lies in all things related to math and teaching.
At Sylvan Learning of Hamilton, Mr. Aleks primarily teaches middle and high school mathematics, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, SAT / ACT Prep, Precalculus, and Calculus. He combines teaching experience with creativity to help students succeed. Additionally, he is fluent in Greek, Albanian, and English.
In his spare time, Mr. Aleks enjoys spending time with his family and expanding his knowledge in data science!
Mr. Ian
Teacher: Reading, Writing, SAT Prep, ACT Prep, Study Skills, Speed Reading
Ian holds a Master of Arts in Education degree along with Secondary School Counseling.
Ian also has experience working with students in the special education setting. He is currently teaching middle school Social Studies.
