Our tutors and staff in Rochester consist of passionate educators who love inspiring children to succeed. Warm, caring and great at relating to kids, our tutors in Rochester know how to engage and motivate each child in a personal way—building confidence and smiles, as well as skills and better scores. We selectively choose tutors who know local curriculum and can link Sylvan lessons to what’s being taught in school.

Kayann Bock
Executive Director/Owner
Kayann has been with Sylvan Learning since 1999 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Middle School Education from Winona State University. Kayann began teaching middle school and then decided to make a full-time career within Sylvan Learning. She loves Sylvan mostly because of the confidence and knowledge instilled in students, and for the personal relationships she develops with families. Kayann is happily married to her husband Corey and is the proud mother of Tristan and Makenna; as a family, they love to travel, hike, and go boating.
Jennifer
Center Director
Jennifer is the Center Director for Rochester. With a background of over 25 years of customer service, Jennifer enjoys working with kids and meeting with families. She has a BA from the University of Minnesota. When Jennifer isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time outdoors, watching her daughter play softball, and traveling.
Sarah Taylor
Regional Director
Sarah graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a comprehensive degree in Elementary and Special Education (Learning Disabilities). She also holds a graduate certificate in Intellectual Disabilities from Mankato State University. She began her full-time career in Minnesota as an elementary special education teacher and was promoted to coordinate the special education department. Sarah moved back to Wisconsin to teach before transitioning to Sylvan. Sarah works behind the scenes here at Sylvan in Operations and Marketing. When she isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time outside, reading, visiting friends and family, traveling, and enjoying time with her husband and daughters!
James
Teacher
James graduated from Loras College in Iowa. He has an Elementary Education Endorsement in History for grades K-8. While James has many tutoring talents, he enjoys teaching Reading, Math and Writing programs. When James isn’t at Sylvan you will find him enjoying the outdoors, writing and reading.
Keith
Teacher
Keith is a teacher in Rochester, MN with a gift for working with kids. While Keith has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in Math, Study Skills, and Homework Support. He studied at Iowa State, Hope Intl. University, and Winona State University. When Keith isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing piano and singing.
Sue
Tutor
Sue studied at the University of Minnesota and enjoys working with Reading, Writing, and Math students. In her free time, Sue enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.
Lisa
Teacher
Lisa is a retired teacher who graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education and Bilingual/Bicultural Linguistically Different Education. While Lisa isn’t teaching, she enjoys tennis, hiking, musical theatre and exercising.
Haley
Teacher
Haley has a Masters in Education Leadership from St. Mary’s University and a BS in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin.
Lori
Teacher
Lori has a MS degree in Education from Winona State University. Lori enjoys working with elementary students. When she isn’t teaching, Lori enjoys kayaking, spending time with her family, reading, and traveling to National Parks.
