Louisiana Families: State Tutoring Funds May Be Available for Your Child
Louisiana Families — This Is Important
Louisiana offers state-funded tutoring programs that may help cover the cost of reading and math support.
Many families don’t realize these funds can be used for approved tutoring providers like Sylvan.
If your child qualifies, this could mean state-funded tutoring support this school year.
What Programs Are Available?
Louisiana currently offers two primary state-funded options:
Steve Carter Education Program (K–12 Public School Students)
Provides $1,500 digital tutoring vouchers per school year for eligible Louisiana public school students.
To qualify, students must:
- Be enrolled in a Louisiana public school (K–12)
- Be below proficiency in reading and/or math
Tutoring must take place after school hours (in person or virtual) through an approved provider.
Families apply through the official state portal and, if approved, select their tutoring provider.
LA GATOR Scholarship Program
Available to eligible Louisiana students who meet residency, age, and enrollment requirements.
Eligibility may include:
- Currently homeschooled or in private school
- Entering kindergarten
- Previously participating in LA GATOR
- Meeting household income guidelines
Eligibility must be verified through the official state website, and requirements may change each year.
Important
Sylvan does not determine scholarship eligibility.
Families must apply and confirm approval directly through the official Louisiana scholarship portal before selecting a tutoring provider.
