Jamie Webb

Director of Business Operations

Jamie leads Sylvan Learning of NE Kansas in implementing smooth business operations across the franchise. A former teacher at Sylvan, Jamie chose to further his career in the tutoring business because he enjoys working with students, maximizing potential, and working with the community. He studied at the University of Kansas and has a degree in Elementary Education. When Jamie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him watching sports, doing outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family.

Kirstin Palermo

Director of Educational Operations

Kirstin leads Sylvan Learning of NE Kansas in implementing educational operations and ensuring the academic growth of every student. Previously the Director of Education at Overland Park Sylvan, Center Director of preschools in Johnson Co, Ks, and former teacher in Wichita Public Schools, Kirstin brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan. She graduated from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and obtained her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Emporia State University. When Kirstin isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her daughter and family, camping, and scrapbooking.

Andrea M.

Tutor

Andrea is a teacher in Shawnee, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Andrea has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. The best thing about Sylvan for Andrea is how each student gets personalized instruction which prepares them for individual success. She studied at the University of Missouri-Kansas City earning a BA and Grand Canyon University earning an MA in TESOL. When Andrea isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her outside hiking or visiting zoos or on hot days floating down the river. She loves water parks and anything Disney.

Caroline B.

Certified Teacher

Caroline is a teacher in Shawnee, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Caroline has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in science tutoring with so many different branches it is the bridge between English and Math. She studied at Pittsburg University earning a BA in Psychology and a BS in Education. The best thing Caroline finds about Sylvan is how individual the program is and how the focus is that all skills are mastered. When Caroline isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading and sewing, she loves to make her own costumes and attend conventions.

Jake M.

Certified Teacher

Jake is a teacher in Shawnee, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Jake has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in social studies tutoring. the greatest thing about Sylvan for Jake is how they help students grow in confidence in what they can do. He studied at K-State earning an degree in Elementary Education. When Jake isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him playing video games, traveling to new places and going to Disney World any chance he gets.

Penny C.

Certified Teacher

Penny is a teacher in Shawnee, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Penny has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in Sylvan in how it gives students a chance to get one-on-one help in the academic area they need. It also helps students feel successful and helps them to love learning. She studied at UMKC earning a BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood and earned a MA in Elementary Education from Baker University. When Penny isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family and her dog Gracie.

Rachel H.

Certified Teacher

Rachel is a teacher in Shawnee, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Rachel has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in both reading and math tutoring. What she loves about Sylvan is how focused on individualized instructional needs for students. She studied at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX earning a Bachelor’s degree and two Texas Teacher Life Certificates for Reading and Elementary Education in Grades 1-8. When Rachel isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her  playing various games with her husband and kids, taking their dog to the park, reading, hiking, baking and visiting family and friends.

Sean R.

Certified Teacher

Sean is an Elementary Teacher in Shawnee, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Sean has many tutoring talents in Reading and Math, he finds the greatest joy in everything Kindergarten. He studied at Emporia, Newman, and KU graduating with a BS in Elementary Education, Masters in TESOL, and a Masters in Reading Specialist. Sean likes how Sylvan tailor makes every lesson for the students based on their skills and needs. When Sean isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him reading, watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with his nephew.
