Jamie Webb

Director of Business Operations

Jamie leads Sylvan Learning of NE Kansas in implementing smooth business operations across the franchise. A former teacher at Sylvan, Jamie chose to further his career in the tutoring business because he enjoys working with students, maximizing potential, and working with the community. He studied at the University of Kansas and has a degree in Elementary Education. When Jamie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him watching sports, doing outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family.

Krystal S.

Director

As Center Director, Krystal leads our team for Sylvan of Overland Park. A former teacher of 15 years Krystal chose a career in the tutoring business because she has had first-hand experience with students who require extra support to meet grade level expectations, even with all the great resources the schools still need improvement and Sylvan is that support. She studied at Shawnee Mission East, Pittsburg State University, and Baker University. When Krystal isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her watching my sons play sports, fishing, or doing artwork, you’ll probably find me playing amongst the kids!

Barbara H.

Certified Teacher

Barbara has worked at Sylvan of Overland Park since May 2004. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where she earned her Bachelors’s Degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s of Education in Reading. Barbara enjoys tutoring students of all ages in a variety of subject areas, including Pre-K Reading, Writing & Grammar, Study Skills, and Speed Reading. Barbara believes the greatest thing about Sylvan is that children are greeted personally and welcomed with smiles in an environment where they are valued, encouraged, and emotionally uplifted by praise, positive comments, and interactions with teachers.  In her spare time, Barbara enjoys nature photography and gardening.

Katie W.

Certified Teacher

Katie is a teacher in Overland Park, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Katie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in all subjects and really loves math tutoring. She studied at the University of Kansas and the University of St. Mary where she earned a BA in Communication Studies and an MA in Elementary Education. The greatest thing about Sylvan for Katie is their dedication to meeting the needs of a diverse population of scholars. When Katie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, traveling, swimming, hiking, and embroidering.

Mary Beth S.

Certified Teacher

Mary Beth is a teacher in Overland Park, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Mary Beth has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading, writing and English tutoring. She studied at UMKC for her undergraduate degree and University of Central Missouri for her Masters in Art. She has received a BA in Elementary Education (1st-8th) and her MA in teaching English as a second language. The greatest thing about Sylvan in Beth’s opinion is that it offers specialized tutoring which builds student’s confidence and love for learning. When Mary Beth isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, especially mysteries. Other hobbies of her’s are crocheting and exercising.

Robert A.

Certified Teacher

Robert is a teacher in Overland Park, KS with a gift for working with kids. While Robert has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in Chemistry and Math, specially Algebra tutoring. He studied at California State University- Dominquez Hills and University of Kansas earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics and working on a Ph.D. in Chemistry. The greatest thing about Sylvan for Robert is the structure and the connections built with the students. When Robert isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him weight lifting, playing cards, building stuff, taking road trips and the stock market.

Twyla L.

Certified Teacher

Twyla is a Tutor in Overland Park, KS. with a gift for working with elementary and middle students. While Twyla has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading & math tutoring. She studied Spanish & Communications at KU and earned her Master’s in Education at Pittsburg State University. When Twyla isn’t at Sylvan, she enjoys walking, traveling, and reading.

Wendy G.

Certified Teacher

Wendy is a teacher in Overland Park, KS, who has a talent for working with kids. Her greatest joy is in tutoring Art, English and Math. She completed her Bachelors of Science in English at Iowa State University. Wendy loves working with warm friendly staff and students at Sylvan. In her free time, Wendy enjoys writing, painting, photography, crafts, baking and tennis..

Donna is an amazing teacher in Overland Park, KS. She has special expertise in Language Arts tutoring, reading, and writing. Donna has a great ability to relate to kids. The greatest thing about Sylvan in Donna’s opinion is the amazing staff and students and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students. She studied at KU and Emporia State earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, K-9, and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. When Donna isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her swimming or gardening.

Certified Sylvan Tutor

Mara is an amazing tutor in Overland Park, KS. She has special expertise in Mathematics tutoring. Mara has a great ability to relate to kids. The greatest thing about Sylvan in Mara’s opinion is the amazing staff and students; everyone is here with a common goal and it’s wonderful.  She studied at UMKU, and JCCC and currently attending K-State working on her bachelor’s in mathematics with a minor in Statistics, then she will be pursuing a Master’s in Violin Performance. When Mara isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her drinking coffee, playing and composing music, reading, doing outdoor activities, etc. She likes a lot of things.

Certified Teacher

Sarah is an amazing teacher in Overland Park, KS. She has special expertise in reading tutoring. Sarah has a great ability to relate to kids. The greatest thing about Sylvan in Sarah’s opinion is the ability to get to know students personally and see them grow.  She studied at KU earning a bachelor’s degree in education PK-12 with a minor in French Education and a master’s in education technology. When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, painting, or anything creative.

Certified Sylvan Tutor

Ryan is a dedicated tutor based in Overland Park, KS, known for his exceptional ability to engage and educate children. While possessing a wide array of tutoring skills, he takes particular delight in teaching math and geography. He holds degrees from the University of Kansas and Texas A&M, including a Bachelor’s and MBA, majoring in Data Analytics and Finance. When not at Sylvan, Ryan enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and hiking, participating in sports, and delving into the subjects of religion and current events.

Penny

Certified Teacher

Penny is a teacher based in our Overland Park, KS Sylvan location.  Penny is great at connecting with kids from all backgrounds and abilities. While possessing a wide array of tutoring skills, she takes particular delight in teaching reading to all age groups. She holds both a BS and MA in Elementary Education. Giving every student the opportunity to work on concepts they are struggling in and then seeing them be able to take those with confidence into the classroom is what Penny truly enjoys about working at Sylvan.  When not at Sylvan, Penny enjoys reading and spending as much time as she can with her grandchildren!

Kristin

Certified Teacher

Kristin is a teacher based in our Overland Park, KS Sylvan location.  Kristin loves working at Sylvan as it provides kids instruction at their level while focusing on their individual needs.  While possessing a wide array of tutoring skills, Kristin truly enjoys teaching reading, writing, and college composition.  She holds a BS in Education, an MA in Rhetoric and Composition, and a PhD in English and Curriculum Instruction.  When not at Sylvan, Kristin enjoys reading, playing with her cat, puzzle building, video games, and boxing!

Rachel

Certified Teacher

Rachel is a teacher based in our Overland Park, KS Sylvan location.  Rachel loves the small group setting that Sylvan provides for students.  She really loves watching the kids grow from session to session.  Rachel has many tutoring talents, but she finds greatest joy in teaching math and science.  She holds a BS in Organismal Biology and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Kansas. When not at Sylvan, Rachel enjoys video games, reading, and long nature walks.

Nick

Certified Teacher

Nick is a teacher with us at our Overland Park, KS Sylvan location.  Nick is one of our great math teachers.  He truly enjoys math and loves the opportunity to work with students to get them interested in the subject and math concepts. Nick has a BA in mathematics and computer science from MidAmerica Nazarene University.  When not at Sylvan, Nick enjoys playing rugby, sporting clays, and playing his guitar!

Megan B

Certified Teacher

Megan is a teacher with us at our Overland Park, KS Sylvan location.  Megan is a versatile teacher for us here at Sylvan, but really enjoys teaching math. Se truly enjoys math and loves the opportunity to work with students to get them interested in the subject and math concepts. Megan really enjoys watching the students improve their skills and gain confidence along the way.  Megan has a degree in Elementary Education as well as Electrical and Computer Engineering from Simpson College and UMKC.  When not at Sylvan, Megan enjoys playing tennis and running!
