Sarah

Chief Operating Officer/ Owner

As Chief Operating Officer & Owner, Sarah oversees eleven centers in Indiana (Mishawaka, Elkhart, Merrillville, Schererville, Valparaiso, Fishers, Carmel, Plainfield, Greenwood, Fort Wayne North, & Fort Wayne South), four Florida centers (Clermont, Ocoee, Dr. Phillips & Kissimmee), and five centers in Maryland (Bel Air, Crofton, Catonsville, Timonium, & Columbia). She thoroughly enjoys working with all of the students and their families. Sarah studied at Cedarville University.  When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and her two beautiful daughters.

Kent

Center Director

Welcome to Sylvan Learning Center! My name is Kent Kolbow, and I am the owner and one of the directors. I received my college education in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During my educational experience, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Math with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology. I also earned an endorsement in Education. Throughout college, I taught at Sylvan Learning centers in Fort Wayne, and within a few years, became the director. In 1997, I decided to purchase the Sylvan centers in Elkhart and Mishawaka. I have since had the opportunity to purchase nine additional centers in Indiana, four in Florida, and five in Maryland. My goal through working with Sylvan is “Success with every student.”

Skye

Director of Operations

Skye is a Director of Operations at Sylvan in Mishawaka, IN with a gift for working with kids. She studied Animal Sciences at Purdue University and Business Administration at Indiana Wesleyan. When Skye isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing board games, quilting, or watching movies with her dogs.

Hannah S

Tutor

Hannah S is a tutor in Elkhart, IN with a gift for working with kids. While Hannah has many tutoring talents, they find the greatest joy in Elementary Reading and Math tutoring. She studied Elementary Education at Goshen College. When Hannah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her baking, reading, walking the dog, or playing with her two cats.

Lucy

Director

Lucy is a Director at Sylvan in Mishawaka & Elkhart.  She studied Secondary Education with a focus on history at Indiana University. Her favorite subjects to teach are history and math. When Lucy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, running, or watching movies.

Faith

Director of Education

Faith has been with Sylvan since 2018 when she started as a tutor at our Fort Wayne location. Before Sylvan, she worked as a high school English teacher with expertise in Creative Writing, Honors 9-12, as well as AP Language and Composition. Now at Sylvan, she ensures educational growth for her students by monitoring progress in each program and maintaining its efficiency. While she has many tutoring talents, she finds the most joy in working with our Writing and College Prep students. When not at Sylvan, you can most likely find her snuggling her two dogs and/or drinking more coffee!

Haylie

Lead Instructor

Haylie is the Lead Instructor at Sylvan Learning of Mishawaka and Elkhart with a gift for working with kids. While Haylie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in tutoring middle school math and SAT Prep. She studied at Cedarville University. When Haylie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing tabletop games with friends, cheering on her favorite teams in football and hockey, and enjoying a chai latte.

Carol

Tutor

Carol is a reading teacher in Elkhart, IN with a gift for working with kids. While Carol has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in teaching beginning readers. She studied at Wheaton College and taught kindergarten for 30 years before retiring. When Carol isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, quilting, or playing with her 2 grandsons!

Anna

Tutor

Anna is a math & reading tutor at Sylvan of Elkhart with a gift for working with kids. While Anna has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. She studied Psychology at Purdue University. When Anna isn’t at tutoring, you’ll find her reading, running, or cooking.

Rachel

Tutor

Rachel is a math/reading tutor at Sylvan of Elkhart with a gift for working with kids. While Rachel has many tutoring talents she finds the greatest joy in mathematics tutoring. She studied Elementary Education at Ball State University.  When Rachel isn’t at tutoring, you’ll find her playing with her dogs, reading, playing Pokémon Go, and swimming/walking.

Jamie

Tutor

Jamie is a tutor at Sylvan of Elkhart. While Jamie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in helping students with phonics and reading. She studied Education and Psychology at Indiana University. When Jamie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, walking her Beagles, or thrifting!

Holly

Tutor

Holly is a tutor at Sylvan of Elkhart. While Holly has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. She studied Elementary Education at Western Governors University. When Holly isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family and working on her hobby farm.
