Anna Ostmann

CENTER DIRECTOR

Director

As Center Director, Anna Ostmann leads day to day operations for Sylvan of Springfield. A former Writing Center Coordinator and Writing Tutor, Anna chose a career in the tutoring business because she wanted to help students with their education outside the traditional classroom environment. She studied at Lindenwood University and has special expertise in English Language Arts and History. Enthusiastic and cheerful, Anna has a great ability to relate to kids. When Anna isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading or working on her latest crochet project.

Phil Ross

CENTER DIRECTOR/OWNER

As an Owner, Phil leads operations for Sylvan of Springfield. A RF engineer by trade, Phil chose a career in the tutoring business because he wanted to help our families and kids in the community gain knowledge and confidence.  He studied at The University of Missouri-Rolla, and UIS-Springfield, earning his M.B.A.  When Phil isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him spending time with his wife, Vanessa, and two kids, Flynn and Oliver Ross.

Vanessa Ross

Center Director/Owner

As Center Director, Vanessa leads operations for Sylvan of Springfield. A Project Manager by trade, Vanessa chose a career in the tutoring business because she wanted to help families and kids build confidence and knowledge.  Vanessa studied at Truman State University, and UIS-Springfield, earning her M.B.A.. When Vanessa isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family, her husband Phil and two kids, Flynn and Oliver Ross.

Robbie Rosenbery

Tutor

Robbie Rosenbery is a remote tutor at Sylvan in Springfield, IL. While Robbie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. Robbie holds a masters degree from SIU Carbondale. She is also a certified teacher and reading specialist at the grade school she attended as a child. When Robbie isn’t working with children, you can find her spending time with her husband and supporting her three daughters in their endeavors. She and her family love all sports but especially softball and gymnastics. 

Theron Yates

Tutor

Theron Yates is a Data Engineer in Springfield, IL.  He has a gift for working with kids. While Theron has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in mathematics tutoring.   He studied at Illinois College.  When Theron isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him coaching baseball, exploring new places/restaurants, or taking dogs to the park.

Carlleen Benoit

Tutor

Carlleen is a teacher/tutor in Springfield, IL with a gift for working with kids. While Carlleen has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in writing and English tutoring. She studied at MacMurray College and University of Illinois-Springfield. When Carlleen isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing volleyball, reading, and cuddling with her dog, Sly.

Macy Fleetwood

Tutor

Macy is a tutor in Springfield, IL with a gift for working with kids. While Macy has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest job in math and reading tutoring. She studied at Indiana State University. When Macy isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her exploring the city, reading, or spending time with her mom and her dog.

Tashlyn Humes

Tutor

Tashlyn Humes is a paraprofessional in Springfield, IL with a gift for working with kids. While Tashlyn has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She is studying at Grand Canyon University. When Tashlyn isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family, crocheting, and reading.

Maggie Joos

Tutor

Maggie is a tutor in Springfield, IL, with a gift for working with kids. While Maggie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. She studied at University of Illinois-Springfield. When Maggie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, working out, and playing soccer.

Kaleigh Meyer

Tutor

Kaleigh is an instructor in Springfield, IL with a gift for working with kids. While Kaleigh has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in math tutoring. She studies at Lincoln Land Community College. When Kaleigh isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her playing soccer or spending time with her cats.

William Demarco

Tutor

Will is a tutor in the Springfield, IL area with a gift for working with kids. While Will has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in reading and geography tutoring. He studied at the University of Missouri. When Will isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him hiking trails, creating outdoor education content, or exploring new places with friends.

William Schoedel

Tutor

William is a third grade teacher in Springfield, IL with a gift for working with kids. While Bill has many tutoring talents, he finds the greatest joy in language arts tutoring. He studied at The University of Illinois. When Bill isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find him spending time with family, fishing and working on his house.

Stephanie Willig

Tutor

Stephanie is a second grade teacher at Riverton Elementary School with a gift for working with kids. While Stephanie has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She has studied at UIS and Arizona State University. When Stephanie isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her family, walking her dog, reading, and baking.
