Kent

Owner

Welcome to Sylvan Learning Center! My name is Kent Kolbow, and I am the owner and one of the directors. I received my college education in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During my educational experience, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Math with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology. I also earned an endorsement in Education. Throughout college, I taught at Sylvan Learning centers in Fort Wayne, and within a few years, became the director. In 1997, I decided to purchase the Sylvan centers in Elkhart and Mishawaka. I have since had the opportunity to purchase nine additional centers in Indiana, four in Florida, and five in Maryland. My goal through working with Sylvan is “Success with every student.”

Sarah

Chief Operating Officer/ Owner

As Chief Operating Officer & Owner, Sarah oversees eleven centers in Indiana (Mishawaka, Elkhart, Merrillville, Schererville, Valparaiso, Fishers, Carmel, Plainfield, Greenwood, Fort Wayne North, & Fort Wayne South), four Florida centers (Clermont, Ocoee, Dr. Phillips & Kissimmee), and five centers in Maryland (Bel Air, Crofton, Catonsville, Timonium, & Columbia). She thoroughly enjoys working with all of the students and their families. Sarah studied at Cedarville University.  When Sarah isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and her two beautiful daughters.

Jill

Director of Education

Jill is the Director of Education at Sylvan of Kissimmee. Jill taught middle school social studies for the School District of Osceola County for 14 years. She attended Valencia College and the University of Central Florida where she earned a degree in Classical Humanities. When she’s not at Sylvan, Jill likes to spend her time in her garden, cooking, and making pottery. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Indy.

Deyline

Tutor

Deyline is a 4th grade teacher in Kissimmee, FL with a gift for working with kids. While Deyline has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring. She studied at the University of Central Florida. When Deyline isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her spending time with her daughter or reading a good book.

Aubree

Tutor

Aubree is a reading and math tutor at Sylvan of Kissimmee with a gift for working with kids. While Aubree has many tutoring talents, she finds the greatest joy in reading tutoring.  When Aubree isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her reading, crafting, baking, and spending time with her infant and husband.

Kathie

Tutor

Kathie taught science and math in NJ and she now enjoys tutoring at Sylvan of Clermont, FL. Tutoring in science and math most are her favorite subjects. Kathie studied at William Paterson University, Ramapo College; and Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

During her time as the Center Director for the Buehler Challenger & Science Center in NJ, Kathie enjoyed her sharing her love of space science. She is a natural adventurer having spent time flying small planes and enjoying the slopes as a ski instructor. In her free time, Kathie loves crocheting and spending time with her family at Disney World.
