Hello!!! My name is Dr. Ira Sullivan and I am the Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center. I very strongly believe that education is a lifelong process and one should never cease to learn because we live in the time where knowledge is abundant and learning is constant. I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education and Educational Leadership.  I also have a Doctorate Degree in Leadership Management in Education.. I bring teaching experience of more than 15 years, and continue to cherish every moment of it. Following my passion in the Education industry, I decided to take the ownership of Sylvan Learning Center in the Birmingham territory (Cities of Hoover & Trussville). Why Sylvan? Sylvan’s personalized approach helps students strengthen the specific area of need and makes them more confident within the subject matter. In leisure time, I like to spend time with my three sweet daughters and traveling with my family.

Alexis Lawrence

Alexis Lawrence, a Birmingham native, brings over a decade of experience in healthcare
operations, higher education, and executive support to her role at Sylvan Learning Center.
She has held senior leadership positions including Chief of Staff at Duke University Health
System and Administrative Director at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she
focused on strategic planning, process improvement, and organizational excellence.
Alexis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration
(MBA), which fuels her passion for helping others succeed through thoughtful
communication and structured support.
As an Enrollment Specialist, she enjoys being a helpful first step for families looking to
invest in their child’s education. Outside of work, Alexis is a proud dog mom who enjoys
indoor cycling, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with her family and friends.
