Director

Ishrat Fathima is the Center Director and Franchise Owner. With over 20 years of experience in administration, school management, and English Language teaching, she aims to foster creativity and skills in students so as to help them achieve their educational goals. In addition, Ishrat enjoys collaborating with teachers and parents to develop efficient and effective learning strategies.

Sujatha Sridaran

Director of Education

Director

Sujatha holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She has fifteen years of experience in teaching students of all age groups in several countries. She feels that the role of a teacher is to support and guide the student in the learning process. Rather than viewing errors as a setback, she assists students to understand and guide them to correct those errors through positive reinforcement. She believes in Lev Vygotsky’s theory that parents and teachers by providing opportunities can foster learning that lies within a child’s zone of proximal development. When she is not teaching at Sylvan, you can find her engrossed with her books as she is a voracious reader.

Natasia Sohail

Lead Teacher

Natasia Sohail has over 17 yrs experience in education and leadership in Elementary school &Early Years. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Admin and Bachelor’s degree inEducation. She’s currently pursuing a diploma in ECE.She is passionate about enriched learning experiences for children, enabling them to think beyond the classroom. She thinks it is important to not only educate but develop a child’s emotional, personal, and social skills through purposeful & exciting learning experiences.She believes that the quality of education that children receive is indispensable in bringing out their potential and that all children should have access to quality learning.

Nicole Antidormi

Instructor

Nicole is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from Western University in 2021 having previously obtained a Bachelor of Music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2019. She is passionate about teaching and believes in the importance of meeting each student’s unique learning needs in order to support academic achievement. When she is not teaching, Nicole enjoys reading, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and listening to classical music.

Melanie Ferreira

Instructor

Melanie is an OCT certified teacher working at the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, double majoring in chemistry and biology, and a Bachelor of Education from OISE in 2015. She believes in the importance of not only teaching students curriculum content, but more importantly, teaching them skills and lessons they can take with them outside of the classroom to encourage them to be life-long learners. When she is not teaching, Melanie loves to read, listen to music and spend quality time with her family, friends, and cats Charlee and Lexy.

Jose Diaz Paruell

Math and Physics Online Instructor

Jose Diaz is an Electrical Engineer with a Master degree and Doctorate studies. He has more than 35 years of experience as an educator in several Universities. His university courses were always very closely related to Mathematics and Applied Physics. He also has vast experience tutoring high school students as well. At Sylvan Learning of Erin Mills he has tutored Math and Physics students from Grades 9 to 12. He has also helped students prepare for the SAT/ACT tests. He believes that education is the only way boys and girls can achieve the best of their potential and teachers and tutors are there to help, motivate and inspire.

Sommer Chou

Instructor

Sommer is currently a PhD Candidate at McMaster University studying Biochemistry. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and has over 7 years of experience tutoring maths and sciences up to Grade 12. She strongly believes that communication is the biggest factor to student success and enjoys making learning fun for others. In her spare time, Sommer is either playing sports, out hiking, or spending time with her two dogs.

Ruthba Tahiya

Instructor

Ruthba is working towards her Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Science at the University of Toronto, specializing in Applied Statistics with Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science. She has worked in many tech-industry-oriented internships and wants to use her theoretical and practical skills to ensure that the students are benefitting in every way. At Sylvan, Ruthba teaches Math, English and French at all levels and aims to deliver the best service to all students of various levels and backgrounds. In her free time, Ruthba spends time reading, learning new languages and criticizing international films with her family.

Mathew Henriques

Instructor

Matthew graduated with an Honors Bachelor of science degree from McMaster university in 2022. Majoring in Astrophysics and minoring in Computer science, he has a passion for physics and math and hopes to bring out that passion in each of his students. He believes that any student has the potential for greatness, they just need the right teacher to bring it out of them. His primary focus is to help students gain a useful understanding of the material they are learning, so the student sees learning as purposeful and not a chore. When he is not teaching, he is either listening to music, at the gym, or playing games with his friends and family.

Neha Bansal

Instructor

Neha holds a Master degree in Organic Chemistry along with the Bachelors in Education. She 7 years of experience in elementary and high school teaching. Neha believes that patience is the key to make students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas without fear of judgment. In her leisure time, she fulfills her passion for dance and reads novels.
