Kristen Brekelmans, RECE BA Psych (Hons)

Center Director/Owner

Kristen is a RECE with a degree in Child Psychology from York University. She has more than 10 years of experience working with children in London. Kristen is passionate about education and working with families to meet their academic goals.  She lives just outside of London with her husband, daughter, and 2 rescue dogs and cat.

Andrea Diezyn H.B.A.

Assistant Director

Andrea is a graduate of the Ivey Business School at Western University in London. She has over 25 years of experience working at Sylvan of South London. She enjoys helping each of our students experience success through personal learning.

Cheri Foskett B. ED.

Director of Education

Cheri oversees the educational integrity of our programs. She manages and trains our team of tutors in London. Cheri holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Western and a Bachelor of Education degree from Nipissing University. She is a Sylvan expert, having worked as Education Director for over 20 years. She has additional qualifications in Special Education and is especially knowledgeable in teaching math, language and SAT/ACT Prep. When Cheri is not at Sylvan you’ll find her relaxing by reading mystery novels.

Kim V. B. ED. O.C.T.

Lead Teacher

Kim came to Sylvan with over 15 years of tutoring experience with students of all ages.  She has many years of experience as a classroom and resource teacher.  She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Brock University and a Bachelor of Arts in Child Studies from Concordia University.  In her spare time Kim enjoys doing Jazzercise and gardening.

Chris P. B.A. B. Ed. O.C.T.

Satellite Teacher

Chris completed a Bachelor of Arts at Trent University and a Bachelor of Education at OISE at the University of Toronto. She has experience teaching in Toronto, Moose Factory, Guelph, China, Kapuskasing and London. In her free time Chris enjoys reading, hiking, travelling, writing, baking and photography.

Amanda N.B. A. M. A.

Teacher

Amanda holds a B.A. In Creative Writing and Philosophy from The University of Guelph and an M.A. In Philosophy from Western. She has many years of experience as a library volunteer and was a Teaching Assistant at Western.  A Sylvan she enjoys tutoring her students online.   In her spare time, Amanda enjoys walking her dog Louis in the park.

Emily C, B.A. F.S. and Soc.

Teacher

Emily is a recent graduate of Brescia University College, where she obtained an Honours Specialization in Family Studies and a Major in Sociology. She is now working towards her Bachelor of Education at Western University here in London, Ontario. Emily has previous experience tutoring, where she helped students with English and ESL. She has also volunteered as a Program Assistant at the London Children’s Museum and has helped to facilitate children’s summer day camps for the past three years. When Emily isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find her making art, trying new recipes, and spending time with her family and friends.

Kye H. B. Ed. O.C.T.

Teacher

Kye is motivated to help students of all ages improve their literacy and numeracy skills.  She recently completed her Bachelor of Education and is qualified to teacher English and History at the Secondary School level.  Her interests include travelling, reading and spending time with her cat.

Debbie P. B. A., B. Ed. O.C.T.

Teacher

Debbie holds a Bachelor of Education with additional qualifications to teach French and Special Education.  With over 25 years of teaching experience, she is adept at working with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 in all subjects.  When she is not teaching, Debbie enjoys travelling, baking and spending time with her family.

Tobi O. B. Eng.

Teacher

As a dedicated and passionate Math tutor, Tobi enjoys helping students achieve academic success.  He holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and he has several years of experience tutoring and teaching Math online and in-person.  In his spare time, Tobi enjoys reading and solving Math problems!

Grace F. B. Ed. O.C.T.

Teacher

Grace first learned of Sylvan many years ago when a family member attended tutoring and found success.  She recently completed her Bachelor of Education at Western University and enjoys tutoring High school Math and English.  In addition to being a valuable member of the Sylvan team, Grace is an accomplished musician.

Sheza M.

Teacher

During the pandemic Sheza honed her online tutoring skills with students in elementary school. As a Medical Science student at Western she is also and expert tutor of high school Math and Science courses. Her interests include reading, baking and enjoying movies with friends and family.

Alicia H. H. B. Kin., B. Ed. O.C.T.

Teacher

Alicia holds a Bachelor of Education Degree in the Primary/Junior/Intermediate division and has several years of teaching experience.  She has additional qualifications in Special Education and enjoys helping students feel success in Reading, Writing and Math.  In her free time, you will find Alicia figure skating, practicing yoga and playing soccer.  

Willow M.

Teacher

As a child, Willow has fond memories of attending Sylvan in Florida.  She graduated from high school with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and is currently studying Health Sciences at Western University.  She brings experience teaching swimming, volunteering in a children’s library and assisting a Speech Pathologist to her role at Sylvan.  In her spare time Willow enjoys watching movies, meditating, and bonding with her students! 

Taylor H.

Teacher

Taylor is currently completing her Bachelor of Medical Science at Western University, majoring in Physiology and Anatomy and hopes to continue on to Medical School.  She has several years’ experience working as a camp counsellor and especially enjoys tutoring High School Math and Science at Sylvan.  In her free time Taylor enjoys reading fantasy novels and exercising.  

Gillianne N.

Teacher

With a positive outlook and a lifelong interest in working with children, Gillianne enjoys teaching language and math to students at Sylvan of London.  She is currently studying Education at Western University.  Her interests include swimming, writing and art.  

Jessica Y.

Teacher

Jessica has several years of experience tutoring French, Math and Science.  Her roots are in London, and she is currently studying Medical Sciences at Western University.  In her spare time, you will find Jessica walking outdoors, reading books or spending time with friends and family.  

Abbey B. B. A.

Teacher

Abbey is a qualified Early Childhood Educator.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Disability Studies and is completing a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Pedagogy.  She has experience working with children of all ages.  In her spare time, you will find Abbey reading and spending time with her dog Saoirse.
