Naz Coulton

Director
Naz is the Centre Director at Sylvan Learning Red Deer. She oversees family enquiries, assessment and test administration, personalised learning programmes, school-teacher liaison, ongoing progress monitoring, and parent conferences.
With more than 30 years of teaching experience, Naz joined Sylvan in 2005 and advanced from classroom teacher to Lead Teacher, Director of Education, and now Centre Director.
An early-literacy specialist, she has helped hundreds of children begin their reading journey. Families value her calm, encouraging approach and her commitment to turning assessment insights into measurable progress.

Ken Coulton
Sylvan Lake Location
Director
Ken is the Centre Director at Sylvan Learning Sylvan Lake. He oversees family enquiries, assessment and test administration, personalised learning programmes (based on each student’s initial assessment), school–teacher liaison, ongoing progress monitoring, and parent conferences.
With more than 11 years of teaching experience, Ken joined Sylvan in 2014 and advanced from classroom teacher to Lead Teacher, Director of Education, and now Centre Director for the Sylvan Lake location.
An experienced tutor across all elementary subjects, Ken also focuses on high-school mathematics, with a particular commitment to Grade 9 mathematics, recognising that it sets students on their senior-high course streams. Families value his clear communication, practical guidance, and dedication to turning assessment insights into measurable progress.

Suvan Dev Choudhury
Math / Physics Instructor
Suvan Dev Choudhury is a Mechanical Engineer and Sessional Instructor at Red Deer Polytechnic. He completed his Bachelors of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from India in 2019 and earned his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2023. Suvan has been part of Sylvan Learning since 2023, where he enjoys helping students build confidence, strengthen core concepts, and discover their potential.
With experience working as an R&D/Mechanical Engineer and teaching at the post-secondary level, Suvan brings a balance of real-world technical knowledge and supportive, student-centered instruction. He enjoys teaching at Sylvan because it allows him to make a direct impact—tailoring learning to each student’s needs and celebrating their progress step by step.
At Sylvan Red Deer, Suvan is committed to creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel motivated, capable, and excited to learn.

My name is Dylan Leif. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Alberta and work within the Red Deer Public School system as a substitute teacher. I have been teaching at Sylvan Learning since October of 2017. I enjoy teaching at Sylvan Learning because I get to work with variety of students and help them achieve their goals.

Natasha Regnier has a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta along with a Certificate of International Learning. She Taught grade School In England for a year. She has Been a Substitute Teacher for the Red Deer Public School District for the past few years. Along with being a Tutor at Sylvan Learning for over the past year. She finds interacting on a more individual level helpful in both helping students to reach their goals at Sylvan Learning, as well as helping to expand her own skills in teaching. She finds joy in helping students build and strengthen their understanding of subjects and a deeper confidence within themselves.

Deborah Southworth
Sylvan Lake: Science / Biology / Chemistry - Elementary Reading / Writing / Math
Deborah Southworth comes to Sylvan Learning from the fields of Nursing and Mental Health. Deborah has experience and education in Family Therapy and as a Family Practice Nurse. Both her past and present experience demonstrated her concern and care for others.
While obtaining her BScN at the University of Alberta Deborah delivered on the per-requisite skills of ELA 30-1, Bio 30, Chem 30 and Math 30-2 and continued to strengthen them as she earned her BScN
