Questions for the New School Year

You’ll love these age-appropriate questions your child can answer. Bonus: They're sure to get more than one-word answers. (Imagine that!)


Early Elementary:


  • How is this school going to be year different than last year?

  • What are you most excited to learn this year? Why?

  • What is your favorite thing about being in your grade?

Elementary:


  • Why do you think it is important for kids to go to school?

  • What is your favorite part of the school day? Why?

  • If you were in charge of your school, what is one change you would make? How would that change help students?

Middle School:


  • What do you hope to accomplish this school year? List three goals you have for yourself.

  • What qualities make a good student?

  • How can you study better this year?

  • How do you feel about homework? Write an argument explaining why there should be more/less homework.

High School:


  • What was your greatest success last year? How can you build on that success this year?

  • What were your greatest challenges over the past year? How can you overcome those challenges moving forward?

  • What is the most effective way to study? How does this strategy help you?

  • How can this school year prepare you for your future?
