Does Sylvan offer bilingual services for Spanish-speaking families?

We’re happy to say that yes, many Sylvan centers have Spanish-speaking staff and tutors. However, we recommend you check with your local center to make sure that the staff and tutors there speak Spanish.

Do Sylvan tutors work with my child's teacher or school?

Yes — collaborating with your child’s classroom teacher plays a key role in the success of his or her learning program. With your permission, our tutors communicate with your child’s classroom teacher and partner with him or her on a regular basis. This ensures that the progress you see in our tutoring program is reflected in the classroom.

How much does tutoring at Sylvan cost?

No matter what your need is, Sylvan has learning programs to fit every budget. All our Sylvan centers are locally owned and operated, so pricing varies by location. It’s best to contact your local Sylvan center for specifics but here’s a general idea of what you could expect for our various programs:

Personalized Tutoring programs for grades K-12: If your child needs to get grades and test-scores up, our proven, intensive tutoring programs improve skills, scores and confidence. We guarantee progress! The best in tutoring starts at $49 per hour.

Academic Coaching programs for grades K-8: If your child needs more practice, an added challenge, or help with homework, tests or harder workloads, we provide academic support and practice to sharpen skills, stay challenged and keep up with homework. Our affordable monthly packages with full, one-hour sessions start at $199 per month.

Advancement and Test Prep programs for grades K-12: If your child is on the fast track or needs help with advanced coursework, homework and big tests, our enrichment, college prep and career readiness programs will set your student up for a great future.

We have several options based on your needs and goals:

Our STEM programs are a great way to educate and get kids excited in STEM early on. They’re very affordable and are priced competitively with other after-school programs. (Many start at $99!) And our workshops and camps can be even less.

Do you offer payment plans and financing?

Scheduling

How often does my child need to attend?

If your child needs intensive tutoring to get back on track, we recommend two or three tutoring sessions per week in our Personalized Tutoring programs in order for your child to see real progress. We believe that type of consistent frequency really makes a difference, which is why we guarantee progress!

If your child is doing well but you just want to ensure they stay on track and get extra practice time or help with homework, our Academic Coaching programs are a great way to get that proactive support once or twice a week. Our affordable monthly packages range by location, so to find out if it’s available in your area, contact your local center today.

We know juggling a whole family’s activities in any given week can make that seem almost impossible! To help that problem, we offer convenient after-school, evening and weekend sessions. But talk to us if you’re still finding it hard to schedule sessions — we’ll work together to create a schedule that works with your family.

And how long does my child need to attend?

A very good question! Your child’s learning program is geared to your child, so how long he or she needs to attend depends on the goals you’ve set. We take the time to identify precisely what your child’s needs are and map out a progression of lessons that makes sense. We assess the progress your child makes at each lesson and adjust as needed, so your child stays engaged and enthusiastic, not frustrated.

My child doesn’t seem to like school anymore. How do I know if my child needs a tutor?

It’s normal for kids to have good days and bad days. And what inspires one child to learn at school might not be the same for another. However, there are some clear signs across the board that a child may need a tutor.
